New Video

Rapid Fire – Santi ft Shane Eagle, Amaarae

Santi’s 2018 hasn’t had just good music, the man has shown skill as a filmmaker too. He directed and produced the video for Freaky and directed the video for Odunsi’s falling.

The streak of videos continues with the release of the visual for Rapid Fire. Santi’s found-footage, 90s Nollywood horror video style continues with this montage. The tagline at the end ‘Sorry, we don’t have any candles’ makes the video even more interesting.

Mixed reactions have come for this video (as usual). While some of us think this video is dope, there are others who (interestingly) are now sure that Alte is a cult.

If you have not watched the video, you should.

On The Low – Burna Boy

Burna  Boy is bent on making sure winter doesn’t come; this man has not stopped releasing heat since he released Outside.

The artist recently released a love song called On The Low along with a video on the 16th and is still showing us why he’s one of the best Afro Pop artists out of Nigeria. The song’s catchy hook: Angeli Angelina/You dey cool my temperature is another one showing Burna’s skill at creating unforgettable music.

The camera transitions in this video are flawless, just as the sons is a major jam.

Ride Or Ride – Falana

Falana is one artist we know for her unique blend of flavor when it comes to putting out music.  Growing up in Toronto, the singer was exposed to both Afrobeats and Highlife along with International chart hits and she’s a master at bringing this diversity of influence of music to life.

Jiggy – Idris King

The French King has returned with a film for his third single Jiggy; and with a title like that, we knew the 90s Baby founder was sure to give us something entirely different.

The Bidemi Popson-directed video starts out with Idris serenading via TV screen a beautiful black woman in a red dress (also glittering gold, because black women are made of gold and honey) mused by Bariga Sugar director Ifeoma Chukwuogo, till he taps the screen and is teleported to his muse’s location to continue the good work. Then the story switches with the second verse, as Idris and his ‘gang’ chases down a ‘debtor’ to get their ‘dues’ and Idris ‘kills’ the guy with a toy gun and the video cuts to a ‘party’ with the gang ‘popping bottles’ and ‘spending cash’ – in a way that is caricature of the gang life, inspired by the movie – City of God.

The video is weird and fun and you really can’t expect anything less from Idris King.

Lovin – Simi

An anthem for the ones that are in love and want to scream it from the skies; Simi has a gift,

The singer released her latest sing Lovin yesterday and released the video today. The song is a gleeful cute expression of love for her very attractive and loyal man. The video sees a very confident Simi happily mark her territory repeatedly and enjoy undivided devotion from le boo.

Simi is set to headline her own concert on the 11th of this month at the O2 Arena in London.

Nostalgia With Phlow – Asuai Vol. 2

Hip-Hop artist Phlow released the follow up to her 2016 EP Asuai Vol. 2 on her birthday in September this year and we were blown away by the beauty that it brought with it.

Falling – Odunsi

We heard rare. We’ve felt the 80s come back to life, now it’s time for the visuals.

Odunsi has released the first video of his debut album rare. and once again, we see how this artist is taking control of his aesthetics directing this video shot on location in Dubai with Ademola Falomo and co-directed by Santi. The official video for falling was released two days ago and it delivers greatly on the 80s Disco vibes complete with outer space background effects and glitter streamer; the lyrics are even included for more period accuracy.

There’s more where this came from. We know.

Breathing – Hamzaa

The third and final single ahead of R&B/Soul singer’s debut EP First Signs of Me is out with a video. The gospel-infused (but not preachy) single tells the tale of one finding and living true freedom…

Like To Party – Boj x Skepta x Teezee

Boj has just premiered his much-anticipated single featuring UK-based rapper Skepta and DRB’s Teezee Like To Party.

Ghana Bounce Remix – Ajebutter22 x Mr Eazi x Eugy

The mad jam we first heard last year on Ajebutter22’s sophomore album What Happens In Lagos recently got some love from Mr Eazi and UK-based Ghanaian singer/rapper Eugy and we’ve been given visuals to go with it.
