DRB, Idris King & Pretty Boy D.O feature on the Pushing Good Music Radio Show

In this episode, DRB LasGidi comes together on-air after 10yrs to discuss their past (with the controversy surrounding their hiatus), their present and future plans…

Jiggy – Idris King

The French King has returned with a film for his third single Jiggy; and with a title like that, we knew the 90s Baby founder was sure to give us something entirely different.

The Bidemi Popson-directed video starts out with Idris serenading via TV screen a beautiful black woman in a red dress (also glittering gold, because black women are made of gold and honey) mused by Bariga Sugar director Ifeoma Chukwuogo, till he taps the screen and is teleported to his muse’s location to continue the good work. Then the story switches with the second verse, as Idris and his ‘gang’ chases down a ‘debtor’ to get their ‘dues’ and Idris ‘kills’ the guy with a toy gun and the video cuts to a ‘party’ with the gang ‘popping bottles’ and ‘spending cash’ – in a way that is caricature of the gang life, inspired by the movie – City of God.

The video is weird and fun and you really can’t expect anything less from Idris King.

Fidelia – Victor Collins

The PGM Club enjoys discovering new music, especially projects that are well put together.

This body of work from Victor Collins – released March 2018 – found us on Wednesday last week and it’s been on replay ever since. Fidelia is a six-track EP: Spotlight, Diamond, Shakara, Do Me Like This, Hot For You and Happy Ending.

SDC Set To Release New Ep – Palm Wine Music Vol.1

Palm Wine Music!  What a name for an EP.  Yet, I am not surprised because the authors equally have an unusual band name in Show Dem Camp.

The new project, Palm Wine Music Vol.1 (prod. by Sparxx) is a far cry from the group’s previous projects, i.e the clone war series, but it does, however, revisit a familiar, Feel Alright sound that has sort of inspired the overall sound of this project.

Palm Wine Music Vol.1 is a fusion of Highlife music and Afro-Jazzy Soul. It is SDC’s interpretation of good vibes and so when listening to the project that features the likes of Funbi, Poe, Tomi Thomas and Odunsi, you can rest assured that there was nothing but good vibes while making it.

Palm Wine Music Vol.1 is set to drop on June 19th, 2017, with a live music performance of the project scheduled to hold at the next edition of the PGM Live on the 25th of June at The Eve Restaurant in Victoria Island.

Genio Bambino drops the (EP) Virtuoso

This may come as a late post, but that is also because we couldn’t fully understand the meaning & purpose of the project Virtuoso.

So we asked a few internal questions; Does the project sound good? Hell yeah!

Does it sound fresh? Hell yeah!

So, we reached out to Genio and asked him a few questions;

What is the purpose of this album?

“The purpose of the album is basically to show how skilled and diverse I am, because on this project I sang, rapped, wrote, produced, mixed and mastered the whole project.”

Why did you put it out now?

“I decided to put it out now because I felt it was the right time to come out as Genio Bambino because a lot of people don’t know I have changed my name and have not noticed the growth and changes I have been through.”

What inspired the collaborations?

“Neo Africa inspired the features. All the people I featured are my friends and I wanted to show how dope they are and I also wanted to showcase Nigerian underground at the moment.”

Who is Genio Bambino?

“Genio Bambino is the youngest monster boy. He raps, sings, writes and produces. I was kinda feeling myself when I gave myself the name because it means “Boy Genius” in Italian and that’s how I feel.”

After all these questions were answered, we asked ourselves (internally) the last question;

Will we recommend it to others?

We certainly will! And we also hope you get to listen to it and perhaps share it with your friends.

Don’t forget to drop a comment and let us know what you think.

WORLD PREMIERE: FUNBI HALLELUJAH (VIDEO)

It’s been almost 5 months since thepgmclub exclusively broke the audio of Funbi’s Halleluyah record and since then all eyes have been on the emerging Afro-funk artist to release the much-anticipated video to his debut single.

Directed by King Davies, the video places Funbi at a site of deep sanctity – the Olumirin Waterfall at Erin Ijesha in Osun State, Nigeria – that mirrors an inner peace exuding from the singer, further reflected in the mystification and spirituality of the natural wonders that is Erin Ijesha.

Funbi is an artist fast etching a name for himself in the Nigerian music scene. From collaborations with M.I as far back as 2012 to the chorus on ‘Adore Her’, one of the fan favorites from the Collective EP, he’s been steadily building a fan base for his vocal prowess and versatility.

Styled by Kelechi Odu with Photography by Manny Jefferson, the visuals highlight the immense beauty to be found in the heart of Nigeria.

We at thepgmclub strongly suggest that you watch this video and please give us your feedback.

Enjoy Hallelujah
