Wizkid follows up MIL with MLLE (More Love Less Ego)

At around this time two years ago, Wizkid arguably the biggest music star in Africa, came through with a remarkable piece of work titled ” Made in Lagos.” Made in Lagos while mainly an Afrobeats album was a hot mix of cross-cultural influences ranging from R&B, Grime, Reggae, to slow ballads. It was also resplendent in pop treasures. The unparalleled album contained 14 tracks with guest appearances from Burna Boy, Tay Iwar, Skepta. H.E.R, Ella Mai, Projexx, Tems, Damian Marley, Terri and was executive produced by P2J.

With songs like “Smile” and “No Stress” , Made In Lagos, shocked the pop music establishment. His song “Essence” received the royal treatment thanks to a Justin Bieber remix, making the song historic as the first-ever Nigerian song to hit the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 9. Rolling Stone named “Essence” the best song of 2021, saying it “offered the best vision possible of our eternally shrinking world: at once local and global, intimate and universal.” It essentially took over summer airwaves in 2021. Made in Lagos further cemented Wizkid’s status as a global pop powerhouse and accelerated the spread of Afrobeats by fusing the most opulent parts of Afrobeats, R&B, and Caribbean influences into one album. The impact of the album was felt widely, Wizkid was nominated for two 2022 GRAMMY Awards categories, including Best Global Music Album and the newly introduced Best Global Music Performance (“Essence”) (Made in Lagos: Deluxe Edition)

With his fifth studio album More Love, Less Ego, the Nigerian superstar continues on his quest for global dominance. With cameos by Don Toliver, Shenseea, Skepta, Skillibeng, and Ayra Starr, the 13-track compilation is a global affair. It’s clear that Wizkid has consolidated his approach, he is consistent in his combining with international acts to ensure world domination. The 13 songs track list includes; Money and love, Balance, Bad to me, Everyday, Deep, Flower Pads, Pressure, Plenty Loving, Frames (Who’s going to know), Slip N Slide, WOW, Sugar, and Special.
