Payper Corleone is wrapping up an impressive 2019 with a new record titled ‘So Bossy‘. Earlier this year, Payper released his highly collaborative tape, “Fly Gangsta From The 90s” which featured appearances from Alpha Ojini, Eniggy, Erigga, Paybac, Boogey, Phlowetry and Abstrakkt to good reviews. A few months later, he also secured his first Headies nomination with the Alpha-assisted ‘Sacrifices‘, one of the standouts off the tape. And now, he is crowning it all with this self-engineered new record which is produced by Scrilla.
As the title implies, ‘So Bossy‘ finds Payper Corleone in his full bragging Jay-Z bag. Across the record, Payper shows off his lyrical strength, delivering raw, insightful and playful brags over the bouncy beat, even comparing himself to the greats at a point. The sing-along hook interpolates the opening line of Pusha T‘s 2013 record, ‘Numbers On The Board‘ off his “My Name Is My Name” full length.

Nigerian afro-fusionist, Burna Boy is the latest in the series of top Nigerian acts to secure a BET nod. Earlier today at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles the self-acclaimed African giant bested AKA, Giggs, Dave and fellow countryman, Mr Eazi to win the Best International Act category at the 2019 BET Awards.
Burna Boy’s mum and manager, Bose Ogulu came on stage to pick up the award for Burna and delivered a remarkable acceptance speech in which she reminds African Americans not to forget their ancestry. “remember you were African before you became anything else” she said to a cheering audience.
Teni, however, lost the Best New International Act category to South Africa’s Sho Madjozi.
Burna Boy has, therefore, joined the ranks of Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, 2baba and D’Banj as Nigerian recipients of the coveted BET Award.
