Listen To Paybac’s New Single ‘Activ8’

One of Nigeria’s most gifted rappers, Paybac, has released a new single titled ‘Activ8‘. This comes just a couple of months after ‘Boy Band‘, which finds a happy-go-lucky Paybac crooning about living life on his terms. ‘Activ8‘ is the second single off his coming sophomore album, “CULT.”

Over sombre keys, a stifling bassline and head-bumping kicks, Paybac is in his element, delivering stream-of-consciousness verses about how he keeps pushing against all odds in this country. The patriotic record is dedicated to Samuel Okwaraji, a footballer who died on the pitch 30 years ago in a World Cup qualifier match against Angola. He is also the protagonist of the enduring Nigeria-vs-India legend.

The record ends with a soundbite of an excited commentator celebrating a goal from Samuel Okwaraji for the Super Eagles.

Zamir Is Blunt And Vicious On ‘Anti’ With Ycee

Zamir has teamed up with Ycee for his new single titled ‘Anti‘. This is Zamir’s first release since his year-opening Kida Kudz-assisted jam, ‘Jan 1st‘.

The new Tochi Bedford-produced single is no doubt one of the hardest hip-hop records out of Nigeria at the moment. It has this dark and intense feel to it with trippy keys and hard-hitting kicks.  Zamir sets the record straight that he’s anti-social and just wants his space and circle as tight as it can get. “I don’t like people, yeah I know” he declares as he opens the record.

In his verse, Zamir also recounts his musical journey and his emergence in the music industry. Ycee’s verse finds the ANBT Ceo delivering one of his best feature performances this year with a polished flow and airtight delivery.

Directed by Ademola Falomo, the video finds the wild and free pair chilling in the neighbourhood amidst bike and car stunts.

Johnny Drille Appreciates His Dad In New Single ‘Papa’

The sweet-singing Johnny Drille isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. All through the year, the Mavin Records signee has been steady with his releases as well as freestyles which he shares periodically on his social media pages. Now, Johnny Drille is back with another self-produced record titled ‘Papa‘ a few weeks after the release of ‘Finding Efe‘. This, therefore, makes it Johnny’s

As implied by the title, the song finds the folk singer appreciating his dad and crooning about his spirituality spurred and serviced by his father. Backed mainly by stifling strings and solemn keys, Johnny Drille opens the record by recounting the fatherly advice he was given when he was much younger to have his life guided and guarded by faith and prayers. He then describes how his father keeps in touch with him regularly and reminds him not to let go of his spirituality in the strange land he currently finds himself.

His story may sound familiar to most Nigerian youths born into Christain homes thus making the record a highly relatable one. His vocals are calm, soothing, and at a point powerful, filling the record with so many emotions that can melt the heart and even move some to tears.

I’ve waited so long to put this song out. Fathers don’t ever get as much appreciation as they deserve. It is my most personal song yet and I hope you connect with it on some level” he wrote on Twitter.

TiwaDara Is Love-Struck In New Single ‘Headshot’

Rising singer, TiwaDara has released a new love number titled ‘Headshot‘. This is his first release this year after a highly-productive 2018. Last year, he released his ten-track “Jigsaw” Playlist, with Goodgirl LA and Dunnie as the only guest acts, as well as a joint EP with Denna Ade titled “Collision“.

On this self-produced and engineered record, TiwaDara details the falling-in-love experience as he meddles Afropop with RnB. Over the slick production, TiwaDara sings of his helpless surrender to love and the beauty of the coveted feeling.

This single is also rich in instrumentation with piercing jazzy guitar solos littered over the radio-friendly record. Therefore, ‘Headshot‘ comes highly recommended from us at the PGM Club.
