Zamir Is Blunt And Vicious On ‘Anti’ With Ycee

Zamir has teamed up with Ycee for his new single titled ‘Anti‘. This is Zamir’s first release since his year-opening Kida Kudz-assisted jam, ‘Jan 1st‘.

The new Tochi Bedford-produced single is no doubt one of the hardest hip-hop records out of Nigeria at the moment. It has this dark and intense feel to it with trippy keys and hard-hitting kicks.  Zamir sets the record straight that he’s anti-social and just wants his space and circle as tight as it can get. “I don’t like people, yeah I know” he declares as he opens the record.

In his verse, Zamir also recounts his musical journey and his emergence in the music industry. Ycee’s verse finds the ANBT Ceo delivering one of his best feature performances this year with a polished flow and airtight delivery.

Directed by Ademola Falomo, the video finds the wild and free pair chilling in the neighbourhood amidst bike and car stunts.

Johnny Drille Appreciates His Dad In New Single ‘Papa’

The sweet-singing Johnny Drille isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. All through the year, the Mavin Records signee has been steady with his releases as well as freestyles which he shares periodically on his social media pages. Now, Johnny Drille is back with another self-produced record titled ‘Papa‘ a few weeks after the release of ‘Finding Efe‘. This, therefore, makes it Johnny’s

As implied by the title, the song finds the folk singer appreciating his dad and crooning about his spirituality spurred and serviced by his father. Backed mainly by stifling strings and solemn keys, Johnny Drille opens the record by recounting the fatherly advice he was given when he was much younger to have his life guided and guarded by faith and prayers. He then describes how his father keeps in touch with him regularly and reminds him not to let go of his spirituality in the strange land he currently finds himself.

His story may sound familiar to most Nigerian youths born into Christain homes thus making the record a highly relatable one. His vocals are calm, soothing, and at a point powerful, filling the record with so many emotions that can melt the heart and even move some to tears.

I’ve waited so long to put this song out. Fathers don’t ever get as much appreciation as they deserve. It is my most personal song yet and I hope you connect with it on some level” he wrote on Twitter.

TiwaDara Is Love-Struck In New Single ‘Headshot’

Rising singer, TiwaDara has released a new love number titled ‘Headshot‘. This is his first release this year after a highly-productive 2018. Last year, he released his ten-track “Jigsaw” Playlist, with Goodgirl LA and Dunnie as the only guest acts, as well as a joint EP with Denna Ade titled “Collision“.

On this self-produced and engineered record, TiwaDara details the falling-in-love experience as he meddles Afropop with RnB. Over the slick production, TiwaDara sings of his helpless surrender to love and the beauty of the coveted feeling.

This single is also rich in instrumentation with piercing jazzy guitar solos littered over the radio-friendly record. Therefore, ‘Headshot‘ comes highly recommended from us at the PGM Club.

Prettyboy D-O Assists MOJO’s New Single ‘Chop Life Crew’

Budding rapper, MOJO has released a new high energy single featuring the spirited Prettyboy D-O titled ‘Chop Life Crew‘. This single is a solid follow up to his 2018 single ‘Sweet‘ which was assisted by AYLØ & Paula.B.

Chop Life Crew‘ is produced by rising beatsmith, Ronchi, with additional production from Le Mav. Tim Lyre, on the other hand, single-handedly mixed and mastered the record.

This record is a reminder that life is short, so it is to be enjoyed to the fullest. Both D-O and MOJO deliver energetic verses that drive the message home, over a slick production with rolling hi-hats and hard-hitting kicks. The record also houses a catchy-hook that would get you bopping your head and whistling along in no time.

Produced by BeatsbyKarma, ‘Gold‘ is a radio-friendly pop single that finds a chilled Ycee delivering his verses with a perfect blend of melodic rap with a polished flow. He also delievers a repetitive but catchy hook that gives the record its hit-potential. It is an unapologetic celebration of his lifestyle and affluence that will resonate with a lot of his fans and music lovers.

“Someday, the gold you were depending on to have your back on rainy days – might peel and reveal its true self; coated steel.

Some days, the pain might be so unbearable that it makes you question your process, doubt yourself and get all up in your feels.

Even when you are oppressed by society, law enforcement, government, label executives, Lagos traffic 😒, or even friends from hell and it makes you question your sanity or sink to unfamiliar depths.

Through it all, the most important thing remains – you are the “Gold”, you are Gold. Forged at the elevent hour despite all the heat and tribulations.

You must never ever forget, Gold never depreciates.” He wrote on Instagram

The video is expected to be released next week, so watch this space for it.

Lady Donli and Tomi Thomas (The Forbidden) have released their first official single as a duo, titled ‘Work‘. To the delight of many, these two amazing acts have decided to come together to put out a project. Consequently, ‘Work’ is the first single off the upcoming body of work.

This single is produced by DOZ and Tomi Thomas while being engineered by the GMK – the alte playmaker.

On the record, Tomi Thomas and Lady Donli sing about going about their hustle while also prophetically calling for the rewarding blessings.

This is a laid back neo-afrobeat record with a chilled repetitive but piercing bassline. They also beautifully execute the call and response that’s common with Fela’s music. No doubt, Lady Donli and Tomi Thomas posses good chemistry and it’d be beautiful to watch how this pans out over a project.
