Tomi Thomas after much anticipation from fans has dropped a new single titled “Who Knew”. “Who knew” was released on the 11th of December, 2020. An inspirational track to help with the times is how Tomi Thomas describes it. The song was produced by Genio. Tomi Thomas was named as one of the seven Nigerian soundcloud artists to know in 2016. Tomi was featured on show dem camp’s “What you want” and was a guest artist on M.I’s “Jungle” alongside Santi . His musical influences are the likes of Sade, The 1975, Jon bon, Fela, Bob Marley, Bumi Thomas & Wande Coal.
Tomi Thomas began his career in 2009 as part of a successful Nigerian Collective called Loud On Sound ( LOS) who played an instrumental role in championing Hiphop in the Nigerian music space. In 2011, they surfaced with ‘Magic’ features Shank and in no amount of time gained instant appeal and popularity. Tomi Thomas, Bridge, Zamir and BrisB are members of the hip hop boy band which after a messy legal battle between their then record label, 360 storm executives, had the label dissolved and the group silent for a while. A three track EP titled Tribe was released April 17,2020 by L.O.S showing their outrageous talent which Nigerians fell in love with in the early 2010s and their comeback. Tomi Thomas is also a member of the alternative music group ‘The Forbidden.”
Tomi Thomas released his debut 15 track EP, Patience in 2014, it was described as “a creative expression of his thoughts taking a year and a half to create in the quest of his befitting sound and aesthetic.” He took part in the GidiJand project involving artists from the UK and Nigeria collaborating on an album-length project. His second effort Black Couch LP Vol 1 was released in 2016 and Illusions with LeriQ in 2018.
In a 2019 interview with PAM, Tomi Thomas spoke about the changes he would like made in the Nigerian music industry; “I would like to transcend the sound scape really. It’s a matter of producing the highest quality of sound as well as getting that sound into the right channels to impact the universal market space”.
