Tar1q makes his debut with “Son Of The Moon.”

Every week, loads of music from different artists all over the world are released and make their way to different streaming platforms. As new music crops up every day, new artists also make their debuts and try to infiltrate playlists with their music; one of these new artists who has just put his sound out there is, Nigerian singer and songwriter Tar1q. Tariq, born Tariq Olookun is a 21-year-old artist who was born in Benin city and has been making music since he was 12. The artist who has undergone training at the NuTrybe Records a training academy for young talents owned by Chocolate City Music draws musical inspiration from Davido, J Cole, Wizkid, and Chris Brown. The artist has now made his debut with a five-track EP tagged “Son Of The Moon.”

“Son Of The Moon,” EP is a combination of songs about love, relationships, unreciprocated affections and the artist’s battles with his insecurities. In “Emotions,” he sings about his love for different women and the dilemma of picking one of them to be his only lover. The chorus of the song, “I’m in love with two women and I no wan let them know. I’m in love with two women I no know which one to choose,” draws inspiration from one of Tony Tetuila’s songs released in the 2000s. “Bad intentions,” is weaved with promises and beautiful compliments dedicated to Tar1q’s lover; while “Signals,” has the artist talking about the connection between him and his muse.

In “Be Mine,” Tar1q collaborates with rapper Blaqbonez and Ria Sean to sing about cajoling their lovers to be with them. In the last song “Dear Insecurities,” Tar1q sings about his insecurities, the sacrifices he has made and fighting demons. He sings, “I never knew that sacrificing fears go be heavy load, conversations with my demons happening on the go (Lord knows). This life! E no be bag of chips e no be Doritos.” Production credit goes to BMH and 10Ten.
