Ycee Wraps Up The Ycee Vs Zaheer Saga With “Quarantunes”

Despite the gradual easing of the lockdown in Lagos and across the federation, the effects of the coronavirus pandemic is still felt everywhere, by everyone. We still can’t move about freely as we’d love to; masks have become the latest fashion trend; people are still taking pay cuts; there’s mass hysteria all across, and many industries are still on hold. But our musicians have done their best to ensure we aren’t exactly alone in times like this. Ever since the lockdown began, they have continued to seek novel ways to get us engaged either through virtual battles and live performances, giveaways and more and more music. And just this morning, popular rapper Ycee became the latest in the list of artists with quarantine-themed releases with his new project titled “Quarantunes”.

This EP that came with only a few days warning would be Ycee first body of work since his polarizing debut 2019 “Ycee Vs Zaheer” album which was a clash of his alter egos. And according to Ycee, this new project is the wind-up to that “saga.” Surprisingly, “Quarantunes” is just two tracks long, with Ycee and Zaheer having their final bout with one strike each.

Bella Gives Us A Peek Into Her World In ‘Loneliest Girl in the World’

Bella Alubo’s fans are never starved. Ever since her “Late Night Vibrations” EP with then labelmate Ycee, not a year has gone by without a new project from Bella. And now she’s back, opening the year with a personal and honest single titled ‘Loneliest Girl in the World’.

Produced by, Victizzle, ‘LGITW’ plays as a hymnal for introverts. Over the animated keys, she lets us know she’s comfortable being all by herself, her movies and her music. This is a peek of how Bella has felt since she was 12. In a recent interview with Upflow, she revealed that she wasn’t exactly in the best place when she recorded the song.

“I usually feel lonely, and I’m sure it’s something a lot of people around the world feel, not just creatives. Especially when you have to work on something and you are focused on your dream and things are not looking the best. At that point [I wrote the song], I just started my Masters [in Public Health]. Back then, I was in London. I was living upstairs of my apartment complex, which was quite tiny, and the tiny space forces you to think a lot. I think my bank account then was literally red. I don’t know, I just felt like it wasn’t a good day for me at all,” she says.

Across the record, Bella makes being lonely or an introvert sound like the coolest thing ever. And no doubt, this will serve as the soundtrack to many of our lives in the days to come.

Another awesome thing about this single is that while doing what she loves and making fans connect with her story, Bella is also doing her bit to help the society with this record.

‘Loneliest Girl In The World’ is part of a bigger project, the 4-track “Kele•le” EP whose proceeds will be donated for COVID-19 aid in the country through Red Hot.

Alpha Counts Down To Christmas With ’12 Days’

One of the most gifted rap acts on the rise, Alpha Ojini has released his first post-“Chvmeleon” record, a Christmas themed number titled ‘12 Days‘. Just over a month ago, Alpha released his stellar 14-track sophomore album “Chvmeleon” to good reviews, and it featured appearances from M.I Abaga, Ghost (SDC), Paybac, Blaqbonez, Psycho YP, Ycee, Bella Alubo, Oxlade, Goodgirl LA and Kemi Smallz.

Across this self-produced cut described as a “Christmas tale,” Alpha underscores the spirit of the celebration which is centred around giving and showing love to family, friends and others around us. Aptly released twelve days before Christmas,  the multi-gifted rapper urges share love, give out and enjoy the holiday season as well as we can even we don’t have much.

This is no doubt a Christmas song that most of us can relate to, one told from the perspective of a Nigerian hustler in a tongue common to all. Merry Christmas in advance and remember to spread love always. Enjoy the record here.

Ycee’s Debut Album “Ycee vs Zaheer” Is Finally Here

After years of waiting, fans finally have their hands on Ycee’s debut album “Ycee vs Zaheer.” Undeterred by Tinny Entertainment‘s attempts to sabotage this release by leaking tracks off the album, Ycee has dropped the much-teased project today, November 8. This comes after three straight weeks of releases including, ‘Dakun‘, ‘Mo Salah‘ and last week’s ‘Wahala Dey‘ that have helped revamp anticipation for the project.

Evident from its cover and title, this album is a direct face-off between his alter egos: the icy cold singing Ycee and the blazing hot rapping Zaheer. On Instagram, Ycee describes the album as a “portrayal of two sides of the same coin.”

It’s Ycee vs Zaheer because I’m my only worthy opponent” he concluded.

Ycee vs Zaheer” is a 15-track LP that features an all-star cast of Davido, Phyno, Niniola, M.S Banks and former labelmate, Dapo Tuburna. Ycee also works with a long list of producers for this album including Syn X, Krizbeats, KO, Willis Give Dem, Jay Popping, Fanatiz, BeatsByKarma, Buzzing Producer, Twoseven, Elmore, J.Bids, Ballartosh and longtime collaborator, Adey.

Ycee Is In Full Loverboy Mode On ‘Wahala Dey’

Ycee has released the third and final single leading to the release of his highly anticipated debut album, “Ycee vs Zaheer.” Coming just a week after ‘Mo Salah‘, Ycee is appearing yet solo on this new single, ‘Wahala Dey‘.

This single is produced by a competent duo of Ballartosh and J.Bids as they lay down a sultry afro-pop record for Ycee to shine on. And of course, the man of the moment also doesn’t disappoint. Coming through with melodic emotive bars, he is in full loverboy mode, promising his sweetheart sunshine and rainbows in their romance. He also spices the record with a cheeky but infectious hook that yearns for bigger things.

The 15-track album is scheduled for release next Friday, November 8 and it features appearances from an all-star cast of Davido, Phyno, Niniola, M.S Banks and former labelmate, Dapo Tuburna.

Listen To Ycee’s New Single, ‘Mo Salah’

Ycee has released the second single off his soon-to-be-released debut album “Ycee vs Zaheer,” scheduled for release on Friday, November 8. This new single which is also the eighth track on the album titled ‘Mo Salah‘ is a follow-up to the album’s lead single ‘Dakun‘ which was released last week.

This record, titled after the after African best player and top EPL scorer, Mohammed Salah is produced by Buzzin Producer. And on the hard-hitting beat with a trippy trap bounce, a relaxed and assertive Ycee repeatedly compares himself to the Liverpool striker over snarky punchlines and chest-thumping affirmations. With this track, one thing is evident: Ycee has got this melodic rap thing on lock.

Ycee Comes Through With His Sultry Melodic Rap On ‘Dakun’

Just a few days after announcing the release of his debut album “Ycee vs Zaheer,” Ycee has unveiled the first single off the long-awaited LP, titled ‘Dakun‘.

Produced by Krizbeatz, ‘Dakun‘ is a midtempo Afropop record that finds Ycee dolling out complementary melodic raps for his love interest. He promises to love her right and therefore pleads with her to succumb to his advances.

It, however, seems like Ycee’s label troubles arent just over yet as his former label, Tinny Entertainment, leaked some of the records off the coming album to sabotage its release. But Ycee looked unmoved as he goes ahead with the rollout of the album like nothing even happened.

Remember that “Ycee vs Zaheer” which is now available for pre-order officially drops on Friday, November 8.
