WurlD Releases New 7-Track EP, “AfroSoul”

After a string of releases over the past month,  Nigerian Afro-soul sensation, WurlD has released a new EP that encapsulates his sound titled “AfroSoul”.  It came as a surprise to many when he announced that he was releasing a project two weeks ago. This was because many were still enjoying the sounds off his well-received “I Love Girls With Trobul” EP with ace producer Sarz. Well, the blue-haired singer is leaving nothing to chance, showing us that has way more where that came from.

This new EP contains seven songs with its production handled by a capable team of Shizzi, Spax, TMXO, Soko7, Kel P, Teflon Zincfence, Wakanyna and Del B. WurlD appears solo on all the song on this EP save for the final track, Birthday Song/Palmwine Riddim that features Zeal.

In ‘Love Nobody’ the lead single for this project, WurlD’s striking pen again collides with a pop radio-friendly melody poised for spins on the airwaves. Produced by TMXO, the song is a soft blend of electro and house with splashes of Afropop elements.

The message of the song is simple; when it comes to woman, WulrD can’t afford to share. Across the record, he details his romance with his sweetheart and the exclusivity they mutually agree to. “I don’t want my baby next to nobody,” he warbles in the chorus.

Bankuli and WurlD Want To Get Uplifted On ‘Gbemiro’

If you know the Nigerian music scene well enough, you would know Bankuli. This man wears so many hats in the industry and has been instrumental in shipping afrobeats to the global market. If you follow him on Twitter, you’d know him to be the elder statesman always dropping priceless gems to help newcomers and established acts navigate the thorn-filled industry. Even in this current lockdown, he has been hosting an InstaLive series, Connecting The Dots where he holds conversations with industry practitioners on the state of our music space.

But asides his work on the backgrounds, Bankuli is also a singer. He made appearances on Beyonce’s curated “The Lion King: The Album,” contributing vocals on ‘Find Your Way Back’ and ‘Otherside’. But today marks a new turn in Bankuli’s career as he teams up with soul-stirring vocalist, WurlD to release an inspiring record titled ‘Gbemiro’.

Over the soft and soothing production from Nonso Amadi, Bankuli delievers a prayerful number, pleading to God to continue to keep him uplifted. WurlD joins him in this prayer session with his thrilling vocal on full display.

No doubt, this is a tune that’d help to lift the spirits of music lovers as we continue to fight to keep ourselves safe physically and mentally in these ‘rona times.

WurlD Wants A Very Exclusive Relationship In ‘Love Nobody’

Ever since ‘Show You Off’ with seasoned producer Shizzi and Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, WurlD’s brilliant songwriting and chilling vocals have been there for all to see. No one could deny the refreshing originality embedded in his ever-mutating sound. But WurlD just wasn’t getting the attention he deserved. It wasn’t until “I Love Girls With Trobul” his well-received joint tape with Sarz, with standouts like ‘Mad’ and ‘Ego’, as well as his killer-feature on Davido’s star-studded, ‘Sweet In The Middle’ that WurlD’s potential was traded for prominence.

Four months into 2020, WurlD is finally giving us his first single of the year. For this new tune titled ‘Love Nobody’, WurlD’s striking pen again collides with a pop radio-friendly melody poised for spins on the airwaves.

The Video For Sarz & WurlD’s ‘Ego (Nobody Wins)’ Tells An All Too Familiar Story

Sarz and WurlD have finally unveiled the long-awaited visuals for ‘Ego (Nobody Wins)‘, almost ten months since its initial release. This comes just a few hours before the release of their much-teased joint EP, “I Love Girls With Trobul” set to drop on Friday, November 8. The video directed by a team of Chukwuka Nwobi, WurlD, Baba Agba and Muktar tells a poignant tale of a clash of egos.

It opens with three ladies preparing for a party having the relationship talk and advising WurlD’s downhearted lover. The video soon finds WurlD and Sarz at a bar as the singer croons with a sore heart about him craving his sweetheart. She then goes on to have a good time at the party, dancing to her favourite tunes with friends while WurlD chills with his guys. Sarz plays the good friend who listens to all of WurlD’s howls and grumbles, even offering him a drink to deal with his pain at a point.

Amidst all this, the lovebirds terribly long for each other but are a repelled by an even stronger force: ego. At the end of the video, they realise they had been in the same place all along.
