L.A.X Calls Up A Super Team Of Simi & Tiwa Savage For ‘Gobe’ Remix

Remixes often feel like taking a gamble. Sometimes, it ends up being needless and failed attempt to reenact the greatness of the original. A few other times, it matches up to the potential of the initial song, giving us a refreshing dose of the melodies we’ve already come to love. But there are also those very rare moments where the remix takes it to a whole new level. The remix becomes a well taken second shot well taken, building up on the beams of the original to create something even better refined and much more sublime. And L.A.X’s ‘Gobe’ remix with Simi and Tiwa Savage is one of those moments.

Back in February, L.A.X had teamed up with 2baba to soundtrack the valentines’ day celebrations with a keening tune detailing how their excesses in their relationships have come full circle. But for the remix released this last weekend, L.A.X changes the perspective, joining forces with Simi and Tiwa Savage, two of Nigeria’s most gifted singers to discuss this from a woman’s angle. Even as the beat, theme and hook remain the same, it is their pristine vocals and delivery gives the record a new exciting life. With two of the hottest songs in the country to her name, Simi has been one of the biggest winners of this pandemic, as far as Nigerian music is concerned. She continues this amazing run with her opening verse, reminding her erring lover, she’s done acting the fool and now following his footsteps. Tiwa Savage follows up with her stirring verse well woven in Yoruba, English and Pidgin, riding the soft and smooth Clemzy-production like a wave. L.A.X then wraps up the song with a verse from the original, easing you down to the repeat button.

Ladipoe And Simi Showcase Undeniable Chemistry On ‘Know You’

Mavin Records rapper Ladipoe has joined forces with one of Nigeria’s leading singers, Simi to release a duet titled ‘Know You’.This comes as Ladipoe’s first drop since he wrapped up his Revival Monday series in January.

‘Know You’ tells an all too familiar tale of the talking stage. One of a guy and girl starting to feel drawn to one another but have to take things slower than they’d have loved to because they simply don’t know each other as well.

This is a time when the mind runs wild with imaginations but you still try to thread carefully ’cause you don’t want to overreach or set yourself up for disappointment.

Over the soft and chilled Somi Jones production, Ladipoe and Simi display very seamless chemistry on the record. And Simi herself is no stranger to this kind of team-ups. Remember she and Falz even released an EP a few years ago aptly titled ‘Chemistry’. They blend so well like a Jack Daniels and coke cocktail on the infectious Afropop and Dancehall production.

Enjoy the record that soundtracks the ice-breaking period above.

Nonso Amadi Shares Beautiful Visuals For ‘Free’

Nonso Amadi has finally unveiled the visuals for the title-track and one of the standouts off his 6-track “Free” EP. This project was released to good reviews in August 2019 and featured appearances from Simi and Mr Eazi.

This video opens with a pensive Nonso Amadi leaving his half of the bed after what is perceived to be a quarrel with his woman. It appears the relationship isn’t having the best of times but they are undoubtedly still in love. Nonso then steps to the fields to get some space and collect his thoughts and is later joined by his sweetheart. The video is directed by Esquire and co-directed by UAX. Watch the beautiful visuals below.

Nonso Amadi’s “Free” EP Is Here.

One of Nigeria’s most promising acts, Nonso Amadi has released his new EP titled “Free.” This project is the long-awaited follow up to his sweeping “Alone” EP which housed ‘Suicidal’ featuring IBK.

Containing just six tracks, Simi and Mr Eazi are the only guests as Nonso Amadi appears solo on four tracks of the project. The EP is also majorly self-produced, with additional productions from Juls and AoD. Tyne Angela and Ghana’s Efya also make contributions to the album, assisting with additional vocals.

Speaking about the EP an interview with Pulse NG, Nonso Amadi revealed that “The title of the project is Free and it’s to express like being free; like ‘freedom,’ and all that. It’s just to say, you know, regardless of the pressure that most artists face and all that, this project was created out of a liberty of creativity.

Like I’m not trying to match or compete with anyone. It’s a very interesting sound to hear, and it’s something I want people to listen to while they’re driving or chilling, not when you’re trying to… It’s not made for you to go to the club necessarily. It’s a chill song, it’s Nonso.”

This project comes highly recommended by us at the PGM Club. Enjoy the project above and tell us what you think.

Simi Shares Colourful Video For ‘Jericho’ With Patoranking

Barely a day after announcing the launch of her record label, Studio Brat, Simi has unveiled the visuals for ‘Jericho‘. The Patoranking-assisted dancehall record is one of the fan favourites cuts off her recently released third studio album, “Omo Charlie Champagne.”

The Adasa Cookey-directed video is a colourful one that finds Simi majorly singing the love number dancing with choreographers. Enjoy.

Simi Parts Ways With X3M Music

Popular Nigerian singer, Simi has parted ways with her record label, X3M music after five years. This comes just after a few days after the successful release of her critically acclaimed third studio album, “Omo Charlie Champagne” which is still topping charts all over the country.

Simi’s exit from the label is reported to be as a result of the expiration of her recording contract.

Unlike most label-artist splits in the Nigerian music industry, this is a very peaceful and amicable departure, as both parties decided not to renew the expired contract, according to Vincent Nwanze, the A&R executive of the label.

Over the course of her time at the label, Simi grew from a burgeoning alternative sensation into one of the biggest acts in the country. Ever since singing with X3Min 2014, Simi has scored a number of hits and also released two acclaimed albums including the culturally and commercially successful self-titled album “Simisola” which bagged the album of the year award at the 2018 Headies.

According to X3M’s management, “We only sign artists that we love and believe in. We know our taste in music is rather different, but we only sign talents who meet that taste. Fortunately, we have been able to find millions of music lovers here and abroad, who share similar tastes, as is evident in the success of all the artistes we have worked with, including Simi who is without any doubt one of the biggest music talents in the country today…

Although Simi is yet to confirm the news on her social media pages, we at the PGM Club wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
