Ladipoe Wraps Up Revival Sunday With ‘Tailor Made’

One of Nigeria’s finest rappers, Ladipoe has released the final entry of his weekly rap releases tagged Revival Sunday. Ever since it kicked off back in 2019, the self-ascribed Leader of The Revival has released four entries off the series, featuring Dami Oniru and Victony in the last two. Although last week witnessed the only skip ever since it began, the rapper is bringing the beloved series to an end with today’s release, ‘Tailor Made’.

The previous entry, ‘Revival Mode’ is one of the most exciting of the series, as Ladipoe brings along an unknown but gifted rapper who does his best to leave an impression with his solid verse. Ladipoe himself came through with one of the sickest verses so far in this series. He appears to be done with his 2019 policy of silence as he settles some past scores on this record, addressing much of the drama in the rap scene in the just-concluded year.

The week’s release is produced by Altims, mixed by KennyKsticks and mastered by the regular culprit, Bigfoot. Ladipoe is well known for his well tailored and polished flow and he brings that to bear on this bouncy track. Across the track, Ladipoe is just being his goofy self, rapping about everything from his fashion sense to how he handles his social media. The video for ‘Tailor Made’ is scheduled for release on Tuesday, January 21.

Ladipoe Brings Victony Along In His Revival Sunday’s Fourth Entry, ‘Revival Mode’

Mavin Records rapper, Ladipoe has released the fourth entry off his on-going Revival Sunday weekly releases titled, ‘Revival Mode‘. Last week’s entry saw him bring the first guest on the series, Dami Oniru, and now, Ladipoe is putting on an up-and-comer who impressed him with his Triple Homicide challenge entry, Victony. And unlike the previous entries, this records gets no credited contributions from London as it is produced by Doozy Beatz, mixed by Kennyksticks and mastered by the OG, Bigfoot.

On ‘Revival Mode‘, Ladipoe comes through with one of the sickest verses so far in this series. Ladipoe seems to be done with his 2019 policy of silence as he settles some scores on this record, addressing much of the drama in the rap scene in the just-concluded year. He also had a word for Davolee who came at him last year on his ‘Give Away’ diss track.

The newcomer, Victony tries to leave an impression with his guest spot over the bouncy beat that opens with Travis Scott‘s ‘Sicko Mode‘ gloomy interlude chords. Hopefully, he can take advantage of this spotlight to release more records this year that might place him on the ever-changing lists of young acts to look out for.

Dami Oniru Assists Ladipoe’s ‘Slippin’ Away’

Ladipoe has released the third entry off his ongoing Revival Sunday series -apparently the last for the year – and unlike the first two instalments, this one comes with the first feature in the pack. For this week’s record titled ‘Slippin’ Away‘, the Mavins Records flagship rapper seeks the assistance of one of the most gifted vocalists on the rise, Dami Oniru. This Trap&B record is produced by London, the only other constant in the Revival Sunday series so far asides Ladipoe, and is engineered by Dami Oniru’s friend and frequent collaborator, Remy Baggins.

A record specially tailored for the night time, ‘Slippin’ Away‘ opens with a pensive feminine monologue. Over sombre keys later joined by 808s, Ladipoe raps in his signature polished flow, lamenting about the depleting energy of his partner in their relationship. On her part, Dami Oniru, as usual, comes through with superb vocals adding that golden touch to one of the highlights off this weekly rap series.

Ladipoe Is All About The Vibes In New Single, ‘Come Alive’

Mavin Records rapper, Ladipoe has released the second entry of his Revival Sunday series, titled ‘Come Alive‘. This comes exactly a week after he kicked off the series with the playful brags on ‘Providence‘. With the Revival Sunday series, Ladipoe — who described himself as Nigeria’s best chance of winning a Grammy in an earlier freestyle — seeks to achieve a rejuvenation of true rap artistry with no punchlines but just lifelines.

This new entry is produced by Duggie and London, mixed by London and Kennykstics and mastered by Bigfootinyourface. It also features additional vocals from Nessa, Blair and Bolaji.

Coming through with soothing melodic raps, Ladipoe is all about catching vibes on the new record just having fun with the simple but head-bopping beat. The accompanying video is also scheduled for release later today.

Ladipoe Kicks Off “Revival Sunday” Series With ‘Providence’

For the past few days, Mavin Records rapper, Ladipoe has been teasing a weekly bar fest series tagged the #RevivalSunday and now, he has officially kicked it off with the first week’s entry, ‘Providence‘. Rapping over a Johnson IP and London-produced beat, the wordsmith’s mastery as a lyricist is on full display as he delievers neck-snapping bars and a pack of quotables enwrapped in a stirring flow.

Ladipoe goes about all this with a seamless ease that it looks like he’s just having fun with the beat yet doing something that exhumes dexterity and technical skill that can only be acquired after age-long practice and constantly beating at one’s craft. Earlier this year, Ladipoe crowned himself the Leader of the Revival in his #LOTR freestyle and now, he is making good on that claim.

Towards the end, he interpolates Prettyboy D-O‘s energetic street anthem, ‘Dey Go Hear Wehh‘ which is loosely directed at naysayers and nonbelievers.

Triple Threat: PsychoYP Releases New Singles Off “YPSZN 2”

PsychoYP is finally treating us to a taste of his soon-to-be-released project, “YPSZN 2” with three singles all at once. Just last week, the rapper announced the release date and tracklist of the follow-up to his stellar tape, “YPSZN” which was released to good reviews and has even amassed over a million streams – an impressive feat for an artist on the rise. And with the release of the three new tracks off “YPSZN 2“; ‘City Of Kings‘, ‘Elevate‘ and ‘No Chaser‘, we have a feel of what to expect on the coming project.

According to the unveiled tracklist, the project will feature appearances from Ladipoe, BOJ, Dami Oniru, Skales, Terri and more across 16 tracks.

City Of Kings‘ which happens to be the album opener is a worthy introduction to the project as it finds PsychoYP in his element, riding for his city over rolling hi-hats and hard-hitting kicks. The record is also littered with striking ad-libs reminiscent of Desiigner‘s 2015 monster hit, ‘Panda‘. On ‘Elevate‘ Afropop meets hip-hop as PsychoYP interpolates Olamide‘s ‘Motigbana‘, coming through with a relaxing melodic rap over a laid back instrumental.

But of the three releases, the Terri-assisted ‘No Chaser‘ takes the cake. This song enjoys a brilliant and catchy hook from Terri with PyschoYP stepping up with playful brags over the radio-friendly tune.

If these records are anything to go by, the sophomore curse has nothing on YP as the tape is already sounding like a worthy sequel. Remember, “YPSZN 2” drops on Monday, November 4.

Ladipoe Radiates Confidence In New Single ‘Lemme Know’

Just a few days after sharing the video exclusively on Instagram, Ladipoe has officially released ‘Lemme Know‘ on all major streaming platforms.

This continues the string of pop-laced releases from the Mavin Records rapper since his debut well-received project, “Talk About Poe.” The only break from this streak has been his viral ‘Leader of the Revival (LOTR)‘ freestyle with which Ladipoe reminds us of his lyrical prowess and hip-hop roots.

Produced by Ozedikus, popularly known as the beatsmith behind Rema‘s breakout smash, ‘Dumebi’,Lemme Know‘ finds a relaxed Ladipoe churning out cheeky lines with a polished flow and an airtight delivery over the head-bopping instrumental. He kicks things right off with “Your sugar mummy on my case like Teni.”

With records like this, Ladipoe is constantly proving to everyone that cares to listen that he has got that crossover potential and it’s only a matter of time before he transcends into becoming one of Nigeria’s biggest stars.

The accompanying fun video finds Ladipoe feeling the vibe with skateboarders, basketballer, dancers and friends at a basketball court

Is Ladipoe the most lyrical rapper in Africa?

As Nigerians held their breath for the release of the Beyonce-curated album, “The Gift“, Mavin Records act, Ladipoe flipped Nigerian Twitter on its head yesterday with a new sizzling freestyle video. Since the release of his debut tape last year “Talk About Poe“, the rapper has been exploring new radio-friendly sounds with ‘Jaiye‘ and ‘Based On Kpa‘, but now, the wordsmith is re-establishing himself as one of Nigerian hip-hop’s best promises.

Over a slick Ikon production, Ladipoe came through with snarky punchlines and playful boasts all delivered with overbearing confidence. He opens the freestyle with a chest-thumping affirmation, referring to himself as “Nigeria’s best chance of a rapper winning a Grammy.”

Toward the end, he confers on himself a new title, “Leader of the Revival“, styled as #LOTR which many suspect to be the title of his next project.

Since it dropped, the reaction to this freestyle has been wild, with some fans even going as far as regarding him as the most lyrical rapper in Africa. Peep the freestyle above and tell us if you agree.

Fun Fact: The beat was originally used in Show Dem Camp and Preye‘s joint, ‘Taking Over‘, that closed off the Collectiv3‘s 2018 sophomore album, “Live. Create.Repeat.”
