Ladipoe Radiates Confidence In New Single ‘Lemme Know’

Just a few days after sharing the video exclusively on Instagram, Ladipoe has officially released ‘Lemme Know‘ on all major streaming platforms.

This continues the string of pop-laced releases from the Mavin Records rapper since his debut well-received project, “Talk About Poe.” The only break from this streak has been his viral ‘Leader of the Revival (LOTR)‘ freestyle with which Ladipoe reminds us of his lyrical prowess and hip-hop roots.

Produced by Ozedikus, popularly known as the beatsmith behind Rema‘s breakout smash, ‘Dumebi’,Lemme Know‘ finds a relaxed Ladipoe churning out cheeky lines with a polished flow and an airtight delivery over the head-bopping instrumental. He kicks things right off with “Your sugar mummy on my case like Teni.”

With records like this, Ladipoe is constantly proving to everyone that cares to listen that he has got that crossover potential and it’s only a matter of time before he transcends into becoming one of Nigeria’s biggest stars.

Is Ladipoe the most lyrical rapper in Africa?

As Nigerians held their breath for the release of the Beyonce-curated album, “The Gift“, Mavin Records act, Ladipoe flipped Nigerian Twitter on its head yesterday with a new sizzling freestyle video. Since the release of his debut tape last year “Talk About Poe“, the rapper has been exploring new radio-friendly sounds with ‘Jaiye‘ and ‘Based On Kpa‘, but now, the wordsmith is re-establishing himself as one of Nigerian hip-hop’s best promises.

Over a slick Ikon production, Ladipoe came through with snarky punchlines and playful boasts all delivered with overbearing confidence. He opens the freestyle with a chest-thumping affirmation, referring to himself as “Nigeria’s best chance of a rapper winning a Grammy.”

Toward the end, he confers on himself a new title, “Leader of the Revival“, styled as #LOTR which many suspect to be the title of his next project.

Since it dropped, the reaction to this freestyle has been wild, with some fans even going as far as regarding him as the most lyrical rapper in Africa. Peep the freestyle above and tell us if you agree.

Fun Fact: The beat was originally used in Show Dem Camp and Preye‘s joint, ‘Taking Over‘, that closed off the Collectiv3‘s 2018 sophomore album, “Live. Create.Repeat.”

Ladipoe Joins Forces With Mavin Records Newbie, Crayon On ‘Based On Kpa’

Mavin Records rapper, Ladipoe has teamed up with his new label mate, Crayon on his new record ‘Based On Kpa‘. This record is a follow up to Ladipoe’s ‘Jaiye‘ which was released a few months back.

Ever since the release of his debut tape “Tap About Poe“, the rapper seems to have been experimenting with sounds a bit different with what he was predominantly associated with. He seems focused on expanding his artistry as well as experimenting with new ideas and musical complexities. This is exemplified with his Johnny Drille-assisted ‘Jaiye’ and now with this joint with Crayon.

This single also serves as Crayon’s second official appearance since he signed to the label a few weeks earlier. He had his introductory appearance on the Mavins all-star record, ‘All Is In Order‘ which was released the same day he was unveiled as a Mavin.

Based On Kpa‘ is a love-themed Afropop record which finds a loved-up Ladipoe appreciating his lover and detailing how well he wants to show his affections to her. Produced by Altims, this is a radio-friendly record that is set to expand Ladipoe’s fanbase into the Afropop space.

Ladipoe Is Having The Time Of His Life In Beautiful ‘Jaiye’ Video

Mavin Records rapper, Ladipoe has released the video to his latest single ‘Jaiye‘. This is his first release since his well-received 2018 mixtape, “Talk About Poe“. The video for ‘Jaiye‘ is directed by Seun Okpabisi and Kewa Oni.

The video finds Ladipoe having the time of his life, running around the city of Lagos. This is evident with the big smile he dons on his face all through the video. It also features clips of several other Lagosians, reflecting happiness as they go about their daily hustles.

Jaiye’ which is titled after a Yoruba word that directly translates to “eat life”, or “enjoy life”  finds Ladipoe living in the moment, celebrating life and youth.  Johnny Drille, the producer of the record also assists with some additional vocals.

Enjoy the beautiful video.

Join Johnny Drille In His Search On ‘Finding Efe’

Nigerian alternative sensation, Johnny Drille has released a new single, titled ‘Finding Efe‘, his third single in 2019, after opening the year with the dual release of ‘Forever’ and ‘Shine’ which many cant seem to get enough of. He also made an appearance on Ladipoe‘s latest single ‘Jaiye‘ which has been gaining traction on the airwaves.

This single is actually the product of a real life experience, which Johnny Drille shared on his Twitter about two days ago, about a girl he met briefly in Benin but he missed out on his chance to get her contact.

On this new self-produced record, Johnny Drille is a shy secret admirer who timidly missed out on his chance to express himself to Efe (as implied by the title) and has therefore been looking for her ever since. He has made several futile efforts just to reach out to her and this song seems to be his last hope of reaching out to her. As expected with Johnny Drille’s songs, this record is highly rich in instrumentation and a vivid imagery.

The video opens with Johnny Drille, a photographer, packing his bags and getting in his ride for a long search for his crush. He goes around with a Polaroid picture in hand trying to locate Efe. The beautiful video is directed by Timmy Davies.
