Seasoned Nigerian producer E Kelly has released his debut project, “No Secrets” EP with just a few day’s notice. This is a project he has had in mind to as far back as four years but has finally gotten around to execute, thanks to Mr Eazi and the Empawa Africa team.

“No Secrets” contains just five tracks and it mainly presents some of Nigeria’s rising talents like Boybreed, Minz and the raving King Perry. It also features appearances from Empawa’s success story, Joeboy and boss, Mr Eazi. who has a number of hits under his belt,

Joeboy Continues His Thrilling Love Story On ‘Call’

Joeboy was one of the miracles that happened in the Nigerian music space in 2019. The singer has had such a rapid ascent in the industry morphing from near-obscurity into a cultural and commercial luminary in just a year. His thrilling ride to stardom last year was also accentuated with the release of his hit-packed debut EP “Love & Light” which housed smashes like ‘Baby’ and ‘Beginning’.

The Empawa-backed singer has now officially opened his year with a new tune titled ‘Call’, the first single off his debut album set for release later this year. This comes just a few weeks after his team up with Mr Eazi on DJ Neptune’s jam ‘Nobody’ which is fast dominating the airwaves.

Right from his breakout hit that thrust him in the public eye, ‘Baby’ Joeboy has been leading a love story almost like no other. This has also been a dominant theme in his subsequent releases although things seemed to take a sour turn on the Mayorkun-assisted ‘Don’t Call Me Back’.

On ‘Call’, Joeboy is in love once again. Over the smooth midtempo Dera production, the young singer reminds his lover how much affection he has for her. She appears to have him on a choke-hold as Joeboy is ready to do whatever for his woman. “Call on me, call on me/ know sey I go pull up for you” he sings.

This song comes highly recommended by us at the PGM Club.

Ckay Brings Along Joeboy & Kuami Eugene On The Remix Of ‘Love Nwantiti’

In celebration of love today, February 14, Chocolate City act Ckay has released the remix of one of the fan-favorite cuts off “Ckay the First” EP.  And for this new rendition, he recruits a young and vibrant team of Ghanaian high-life and afrobeat singer-songwriter, Kuami Eugene and Nigeria’s wonderkid, Joeboy.

Produced by a Tempoe-Ckay duo, the mid tempo love record sounds like everything you need to listen to as you partake in the celebrations of love this weekend. Joeboy who spent much of 2019 releasing solo materials shines across this track with a soft but brilliant delivery.

The video finds Ckay crooning to his love interest in a beautiful but candlelit room. It then follows him to the park with him chilling with his friends and loads of back up dancers and fine models.

Joeboy, Fireboy, Rema Scoop Soundcity MVP Awards

One of the things 2019 would be remembered for as far as the Nigerian music industry is concerned is that it was a year that witnessed a change of guard in the local scene. It was the year that saw Rema, Joeboy, Fireboy grow from obscurity into household names; scoring hits and pulling huge numbers. And this was reemphasised yesterday as the trio picked up nods at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards which held yesterday, Saturday 11 at the Eko Convention Centre. Other big winners of the night were Davido, Teni as well as the star of the night, Burna Boy who went home with the Song of the Year, Best Male MVP and African Artist of the Year awards.

The Empawa-backed singer Joeboy picked up the award for Best Pop while the YBNL-signed Fireboy secured the Listener’s Choice award for his monster hit, ‘Jealous‘. Joeboy Releases 5-Track Debut EP, “Love & Light”

Ever since the release of his chart-topping smash, ‘Baby‘, Empawa artist, Joeboy has been on a joy ride to stardom and mainstream success. Proving he was no fad, the young singer followed up with equally beautiful songs, ‘Beginning‘ and ‘Don’t Call Me Back‘ alongside their complementing visualizers that have come to be the showpiece for fans. All centred around love, his songs have come to soundtrack most young romantic relationship in these parts.

It all started with a DM from Mr Eazi after an enthralling ‘Shape Of You‘ cover from the talented but obscure up-and-comer. But barely two years after, Joeboy is now one of the biggest stars in the country. He was even nominated in the coveted Next Rated category at the 2019 Headies award.

Riding off the back of his short-and-sweet, love-themed, and melodious records, Joeboy has released his debut 5-track EP titled “Love & Light” which is all he aims to spread with this project. The EP was premiered exclusively on the PGM Radio Show on Wednesday and the responses have been favourable.

A majorly solo affair, DMW‘s Mayorkun is the only guest on this EP, featuring on ‘Don’t Call Be Back‘. This is a record that is already dominating the airwaves and topping streaming charts in just weeks of its release. Production-wise, Joeboy works with a capable team of Killertunes, Dara the Boy and Beats by KO on the project.

Speaking to OkayAfrica about the inspiration for the project, he revealed that “the main inspiration behind the songs on the new EP is just the idea of love and happy music, happiness. Music that you listen to and just gets you hyped up and makes you feel good inside. For lyrical inspiration, I just drew ideas from my experiences, these could be from a movie or my environment, or something I’m playing at the moment.”

Joeboy Is Deeply In Love In The Visuals For His Latest Single, ‘Beginning’

After wowing fans with a beautifully crafted and cheeky visualizer for his single ‘Beginning’, Joeboy has unveiled the official video for the single. The single itself is a potent love number that features brilliant songwriting and an airtight delivery from the youngster, as he details his romance with his lover. Produced by the serial hitmaker, Killertunes, the song also gets subtle assistance from Empawa boss, Mr Eazi, who provides melodic background vocals.

The Molla Burke-directed video finds Joeboy having a good hometime with his sweetheart. Over the course of the video, Joeboy contemplates proposing as he constantly fiddles with the cased ring. At the end of the video, we see his overly excited lover, throwing her hands around him, making us assume that he finally decided to go through with it. It is no doubt a video that matches the song’s charm and elegance.

Just about a year in and Joeboy is already looking like an Empawa success story. The young singer already has one of the hottest singles in the country with ‘Baby’. And this new single is poised to also do so well. In fact, it’s visualizer has amassed over a million views on Youtube. The record itself is fast dominating the airwaves and it might be far long before people start to describe it as another hit.
