BOJ Is Like An Eager Student In New Single ‘Assignment’

Very early into the year, BOJ had a pleasant surprise for us. No, it wasn’t a new unannounced single or project but something of almost an equal significance when it comes to the BOJ brand. Lots of unsuspecting fans were dismayed when the DRB Lasigidi member posted a photo on his Twitter and all his trademark dreadlocks were gone. It was all down to a cute lowcut which looks really nice but still very odd on BOJ.

Thankfully, our months-long demand for new music finally came to an end last weekend when the singer opened the year with the GMK-produced ‘Assignment’. The three-days old single — his first since the lukewarm “Make E No Cause Fight 2” E.P – is already generating rave reviews, many falling right in love with it from their first listen.

The record opens with enticing guitar riffs that immediately draws you into the track to the soft percussions and BOJ’s signature gruff and sexy voice. The slick riffs not only ushers you in but also accompanies you throughout the soft and smooth ride which ‘Assignment’ is.

When it comes to his women, BOJ doesn’t care about body size. Orobo (fat) or lepa (slim), he is down for whatever. All he wants is for you guys to be together and satisfy yourselves in many ways (peep the artwork for more info).

BOJ doesn’t just want to be a passive partner as he is fully vested in whatever he has with his women. Just like an eager fresh student in the first weeks of resumption, he repeatedly demands an assignment. He wants to work through his love interest and all he demands is permission or consent.

GMK Reunites Prettyboy D-O & Sugarbana On ‘Strong & Solid’

After spending much of last year helping others build their castles, the acclaimed alte playmaker, GMK is back with his very own release. GMK has been the beatsmith behind some of your favourite alte and new-gen jams for the past couple of years. But many don’t know that he also a recording artist and has even put out a few records of his own.

For his first 2020 offering, GMK reunites Prettyboy D-O and Sugarbana after their team-up on ‘Terminate’ off the former’s debut project, “Everything Pretty.” In fact, it was the lead single and one of the highlights off the well-received tape. Titled ‘Strong & Solid’, the new record finds both acts in their comfort zone as GMK lays down a solid neo-dancehall production for them to rock their patios on. Across the record, the pair take turns to deliver their braggadocio verses, pronouncing themselves strong and solid.

Zamir and Amaarae Crave Each Another In The Metaphorical ‘Munchies’

Barely three weeks after his team-up with PsychoYP on ‘Mind‘, Zamir closes up the year with his fourth single of 2019, ‘Munchies‘ on which he joins forces with the Ghanianina songstress, Amaarae. All across the year, the brawny rapper has been an adherent of the power of collaboration, enlisting Ycee on ‘Anti‘ and Kida Kudz on ‘Jan 1st‘, his earlier releases.

Over a GMK production, Zamir delievers raunchy bars, enthusiastically describing some of the sexual fantasies he wants to fulfil with his love interest employing witty metaphors. The feeling is mutual on the end of the appraised damsel as the soft-voiced Amaarae also runs wild with steamy imaginations in her hooking verse.

Enjoy the record here.

Odunsi (The Engine) Releases Cameo-Packed Video For ‘Star Signs’

Odunsi(The Engine) has finally released the official music video for ‘star signs’, one of the highlights off his debut album “rare.” This record which features a guest verse from Runtown finds both singers croon about their preferences and how they love their women.

Odunsi had earlier released a lyric video for the song a few months back, but now the amazing record has eventually gotten the accompanying visuals it truly deserves. This release makes it the third official video off “rare.”, having earlier released the video for ‘falling’ and ‘alte cruise‘, a bonus track on the album.

The Candles-directed video finds Odunsi in a white shiny attire giving a mock live performance with a guitar in hand at a Zodiac-themed owambe party. The video is no doubt a celebration of fashion, expression, music and of course star signs.

Although the featured act, Runtown was a no-show, the video features cameo appearances from Santi, Tomi Thomas, Teezee, GMK and others.

The wait is finally over! Santi has released his highly-anticipated debut album titled “Mandy & The Jungle“. This comes three years after his acclaimed EP “Suzie’s Funeral“, which placed Santi in the radar of many as one of those to hold the helm of the industry in a few years.

Mandy & The Jungle” is a 16-track full-length project that includes pre-released singles like ‘Sparky‘, ‘Freaky‘ and the monster-hit ‘Rapid Fire‘.

This highly collaborative project features Tay Iwar, Nonso Amadi, Shane Eagle, Dram, Kris Irie, Bridge, Amaarae, Seki, Tomi Agape, Kida Kudz and Godlink. Also, its production is mainly handled by fellow Monster Boys – GMK and Genio Bambino with assists from Odunsi (The Engine), Le Mav, Higo, Doz, James Isibor, 1Takennandos and Barst.

Just like his previous projects, this album is a themed one.  In fact, this is centred around Mandy (a fictional character), who Santi describes as “a girl who has no idea the power that lies inside her

Further speaking about the album, he reveals that “Over the past two years, I learnt more about expressing myself and translating that feeling into sound and visuals. Music has always been about the feeling for me, what it does to you, what it makes you remember, and most importantly where it takes you to. I decided to create a universe, combining everything that has ever influenced or inspired me.”

The songs are a soundtrack to this universe, and I hope when you listen to ‘Mandy & The Jungle’, you will make the best memories with them so that each time you feel like escaping, reminiscing or feeling, these songs are here to take you to your own universe.” He continued.

So cop this album, and follow Mandy on her journey in the jungle.

Lady Donli And Tomi Thomas Team Up On New Hustle Anthem ‘Work’

Lady Donli and Tomi Thomas (The Forbidden) have released their first official single as a duo, titled ‘Work‘. To the delight of many, these two amazing acts have decided to come together to put out a project. Consequently, ‘Work’ is the first single off the upcoming body of work.

This single is produced by DOZ and Tomi Thomas while being engineered by the GMK – the alte playmaker.

On the record, Tomi Thomas and Lady Donli sing about going about their hustle while also prophetically calling for the rewarding blessings.

This is a laid back neo-afrobeat record with a chilled repetitive but piercing bassline. They also beautifully execute the call and response that’s common with Fela’s music. No doubt, Lady Donli and Tomi Thomas posses good chemistry and it’d be beautiful to watch how this pans out over a project.

BOJ Links Up With Ghana’s Finest On ‘Awolowo’ With Joey B, Kwesi Arthur & Drako Vibes

One of Nigeria’s finest hook killers, BOJ, has teamed up with an all-star cast of young, talented and vibrant acts across Nigeria and Ghana to produce his latest offering titled ‘Awolowo‘. This new single is named after late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, one of Nigeria’s most iconic politicians credited with introducing free primary education and health care in the Western region of the country.

Produced by the acclaimed ‘alte playmaker’, GMK, BOJ recruits a team of Ghana’s finest acts Kwesi Arthur, Darko Vibes and Joey B who did not fail to bring an international flavour to the scintillating jam. The song also features additional vocals by Zamir and guitar by friend-of-the-family, Tomi Thomas.

Awolowo‘ is BOJ’s first release since he paired up with the self-acclaimed ‘sugar mummy’, Teni the Entertainer on ‘Obe‘ in January. One of the first things that would catch you about this record is how the faces of this young acts-pushing the limits of their crafts in their respective countries- replace the face of Nigeria’s revered politician, Awolowo, on the 100 Naira note issued by the “Alte Bank Of Africa“. However, he is not totally out of the picture as his face can be seen beside Ghana’s most respected political figure, Kwame Nkrumah at the top left corner of the cover art.

The song itself even does much more justice to the memory of the legend as BOJ is on full alchemist mode as he delivers a chilled golden hook with his gruff voice over the simplistic but dazzling GMK-production. Kwesi Arthur, Joey B and Darko Vibes also did not disappoint as they deliver their impressive 16s in English, pidgin and their native languages’.

This is no doubt a jam that is going to last a while on your playlist. Enjoy
