Fireboy Unveils Cinematic Visuals For ‘Need You’

YBNL frontman and new Soundcity MVP award winner, Fireboy has released a new video off his culturally and commercially successful debut album, “Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps.” Just a couple of hours ago, the Afro-life singer unveiled the video for the album opener, ‘Need You’ which is also one of the most loved records on the 13-track project.

The video finds the young superstar parked on the highway, waiting for his lover who later gets off a bus and joins him on a joyride. It then follows the playful couple around as they spend quality time together. Things then take a different turn when Fireboy wakes up to an empty bed only to discover that she was a runaway lover of a kingpin of the underworld.

Joeboy, Fireboy, Rema Scoop Soundcity MVP Awards

One of the things 2019 would be remembered for as far as the Nigerian music industry is concerned is that it was a year that witnessed a change of guard in the local scene. It was the year that saw Rema, Joeboy, Fireboy grow from obscurity into household names; scoring hits and pulling huge numbers. And this was reemphasised yesterday as the trio picked up nods at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards which held yesterday, Saturday 11 at the Eko Convention Centre. Other big winners of the night were Davido, Teni as well as the star of the night, Burna Boy who went home with the Song of the Year, Best Male MVP and African Artist of the Year awards.

The Empawa-backed singer Joeboy picked up the award for Best Pop while the YBNL-signed Fireboy secured the Listener’s Choice award for his monster hit, ‘Jealous‘. However, it was Rema that went home with the coveted Best New MVP Award, coming just months after he bagged the Next Rated award at the 2019 Headies.

Fireboy DML Releases Debut Album, “Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps”

YBNL frontman, Fireboy DML has been the toast of music listeners ever since his smash hit, ‘Jealous‘ came to mainstream consciousness early this year. The highly infectious record single-handedly catapulted him to nationwide recognition, acceptance and success. He has since been repeatedly referred to as one of the new guards taking over the Nigerian music industry.

Not resting on his oars, Fireboy is three singles in and still yet to disappoint as he has further strengthened his foothold in the industry, proved he is no one-hit-wonder and become a household name. His ascent to prominence has been so rapid that just within a year of his introduction, he has quietly evolved into one of the key voices of his generation. Now, the young singer is taking it a step further.

Now adding to his arsenal, Fireboy has released his 13-track debut album titled “Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps” after teasing for weeks.

Reintroducing himself with this full-length project, the album is an entirely solo affair which helps to keep the entire focus solely on him. Right from the title, it is perceived that this album is going to be a very emotive one, in which the singer explores a spectrum of emotions across the 13 tracks which spans for about 40 minutes. The album also includes pre-released singles like ‘Jealous‘, ‘What If I Say‘ and the sing-along-friendly ‘King‘.
