Eri Ife Promises His Bride The World On ‘Dear Future Wife’

Ibadan-based singer, Eri Ife has released a new single titled ‘Dear Future Wife‘. This comes in the wake of his recent wedding that was under the radar until a much recently. This song was premiered on Wednesday on the PGM Radio Show where he discussed his marriage – which came as a surprise to many-, his music and how much Ibadan has influenced his art.

Produced by his friend and frequent collaborator, Remy Baggins, ‘Dear Future Wife‘ as the name implies is an address to his woman. In fact, the singer put his vows on the record as he professes his undying love to his spouse and promises her the world. An intimate retreat, this is no doubt a record that will melt your heart as it is such a soothing, reassuring and melodious track.

Listen to the beautiful record and let us know what you think.

PGM Radio Show Hosts Oma Mahmud & Eri Ife

In this episode, we caught up with Oma Mahmud who walked us through his evolution as an afro-beat/afro-funk rocker and the influences that have played a part in that journey.

We also caught the chance to discuss with one of Ibadan’s promising talents Eri Ife and how his new single turned into a bizarre marriage proposal and subsequently the tying of nuptials.  It left us all confused….

SirBastien Brings Along AYLØ, DAP the Contract, Jinmi Abduls, Eri Ife and More On New Album, ‘Mango’

This year has been such an exciting year for Nigeria’s new-gen acts. Asides having some of the biggest songs in the country fielded by   Fireboy DML, Rema and Joeboy, several other members of the new wave have been exploring sounds, experimenting new musical complexities and sharing the outcome with the world via beautiful projects all year long. Among the numerous 2019 releases include Santi‘s “Mandy and the Jungle,” Lady Donli‘s “Enjoy Your Life” – a strong contender for album of the year, Remy Baggins‘ sex tape “Hentai,” Dami Oniru‘s “Bri’s Lounge” as well as AYLØ’sDnt’Dlt.” These projects and more have helped greatly in restoring confidence about the future of the Nigerian music scene which is currently getting the world’s attention.

SirBastien is, however, the latest in the long list of new-gen acts to treat us to a solid project. Just a few days ago, this multitalented act released a new album titled “Mango” and we can’t just seem to get enough of this beautifully crafted body of work.

On this 9-track (actually eight tracks and one bonus) project, SirBastien brings along a striking cast of the new wave including DAP the Contract, Jinmi Abduls, Ilaye, Eri Ife, Keenah, JayHadADream, Bio and AYLØ.

Across these tracks, SirBastein switches smoothly between singing and rapping as he explores themes centred around love and enjoying good times with the ones we care about. A plethora of sounds, the sonically rich album is majorly self-produced with co-production credits for Saucy and Damiore.

Eri Ife Teams Up With Wapo In ‘Let Me’

Burgeoning alternative sensation, Eri Ife has released a new single titled ‘Let Me‘ featuring Wapo.  This is his first offering since the double release “November” which surfaced on the last day of the month it was titled after last year.

This record is produced and engineered by JayTrix  (PsychoTerror) who provides a smooth blend of Afro-pop, folk and Congolese  Rumba.

‘Let Me’ is a groovy tune which is rich in both Western and African instrumentation, with cool percussions, a stifling bassline, and piercing guitar riffs. Over the scintillating production, Eri Ife and WaPo provide a love number, professing love and affection to a lady who they hope to deliver from the effects of the toxic relationship she is currently in. The pair both promise to treat the scarred lady way better if allowed to.

This is indeed a very lovable tune that reinforces Eri Ife’ s position as one of the acts to look out for this year.

November Isn’t Over According To Eri Ife

Singer/Songwriter Eri Ife made a major impression earlier in the year with YLLW, his joint EP with ace producer/singer/rapper Remy Baggins. The EP was a major introduction to the Lagos scene for this artist.

The singer just released a three-track compilation to mark the beginning of November. The project features Artists Maka and BarelyAnyHook and is produced by Remy Baggins and Sir Bastien.

November is three songs to get you deep in your feelings in styles that aren’t typical of Eri Ife. The exploration is great to hear and the production is stellar.

Small Girl Big God – YMK Sama x Proof the Sensei

Rapper, writer, director and self-proclaimed madman Yimika Owoaje – YMK Sama – is at the shenanigans again with his single Small Girl Big God. The track produced by Simpson is for Yimika, an attempt to woo the hottie that just walked past.

The PGM club first heard of this guy earlier this year when we watch the YLLW video (Eri Ife x Rem Baggins). Turns out Yimika is just as good in the studio as he is behind the camera.  After the handful of Freestyle Friday videos this man has given out, he jumps on this one with another amazing wordsmith in the person of Proof the Sensei. This one is for the men that just want to love without the burden of that ‘sugar daddy’ responsibility. The very clean video is a very hilarious interpretation of this: with YMK Sama and Proof the Sensei as attendants at Swit Mart, we watch as YMK tries and fails to put the moves on a pretty customer. The video is directed by YMK (duh) and Samuel Sirme.

Nigerian Rap has a very bright future.

This Is What #YLLWszn Looks Like

Collaborative projects can be very hit-or-miss even for the most seasoned artists, but when Eri Ife and Remy Baggins gave us their joint E.P. early this summer, there was no questioning that we had a hit on our hands. From the production (done exclusively by Remy Baggins) to the vocals right down to the music content; YLLW is an amazing project.

It isn’t presumptuous to say that the title track; YLLW is a crowd favourite; and now we know what #YLLWszn looks like. Directed by Yimika ‘Y.M.K.’ Owoaje on location in Ibadan, you can guess the video is just as happy and yellow as the song is.

A good visual start for YLLW.

Wildlife – Bryan The Mensah

Bryan The Mensah is a Ghanian Contemporary and Alternative artist, designer, and producer, and Wildlife is his second official EP.

Bryan Mensah; Bryan The Mensah grew up in Accra; the last of three children in a family of doctors, but this young maestro decided to delve into music in 2014. Along with three other artists, he formed a collective called TH’FRVNCHMVN (The Frenchmen) and together they released a debut album called 2.0, produced by Nel Magnum. Apart from being a versatile artist/producer, Bryan Mensah owns and heads the design and tech company Plegishes. Bryan The Mensah has two prior projects: Just So I Could Shock Everybody (an EP he released in 2015 under the alias Denny.Mâdéit.), his first official EP Friends With The Sun (2017). He also has an exclusive EP called Freesound.

Wildlife is a ten-track EP which features Ghanian acts E.L, Efya, B4Bonah, N.O, Kojo Cue and Nigeria’s Eri Ife. It is an exclusively self-produced project (except for Groove which is produced by Epidemix) and it just proves how serious this artist takes his craft and how deserving he is of his Ghana Music Awards, South Africa nomination for the Promising Artist of The Year as his versatility as a producer is obvious even to the deaf.

Wildlife was released on August 18 and is available on all streaming platforms.
