BarelyAnyHook And Bigfoot Release Joint EP “Barely Big Enough”

Bigfootinyourface has had a very busy year. Despite juggling his music with his day job, the multi-talented producer has been steady with his releases all year long. Earlier this year, he teamed up with KEL on her first project in 10 years, “Vita.Amare.Libidine“, and executive produced Pasha‘s sophomore EP, “Love Sex Loud.” He also took upon a ten-week long series tagged the “Downtempo Friday” series in which he teamed up with several gifted acts across a string of weekly releases.

And now, he has joined forces with one of the most talented acts rising through the ranks, BarelyAnyHook, to release a new EP titled “Barely Big Enough.” This project is a brief affair containing just four tracks all performed by BarelyAnyHook while Bigfoot handles the entire production and engineering of the project. Across the project, the pair explore several genres including High-life/hip-hop, salsa noir, blues bounce and what they describe as Fela n’ B.

Barely Big Enough Tracklist

Bigfoot x BarelyAnyHook

Last week, the PGM Radio Show hosted a listening session for the EP, where the pair took us through the creative process behind the production of the project. Interestingly, they revealed that the four songs were all produced in just one night.

They also disclosed that the tracklisting of the EP isn’t set in stone, suggesting that listeners should try to shuffle up the project as every variant listening order brings along a distinct feeling.

The PGM Club highly recommends this project. Enjoy.

Sute Iwar Joins Forces With BarelyAnyHook In ‘Heartless’

Fresh off the release of the visuals to ‘Don’t Wake Up‘, the Abuja-based multitalented act, Sute Iwar has teamed up with prolific rapper, BarleyAnyHook for his new number, ‘Heartless’. The record is produced by Le Mav with additional production by Sute Iwar himself.

Don’t Wait Up‘ officially kicked off the rollout of Sute’s upcoming project titled “Paradise” and ‘Heartless’ seems to be the second single off the album – a solid follow up to the love number which got an elegantly befitting video.

On this new record, Sute Iwar shows off much of his singing side as he croons about the aftermath of a relationship with a self-centred lover. Barleyanyhook comes through with a fire verse cloaked in a brilliant delivery that gives the record a strutting vibrancy.

Enjoy the single above.

BarelyAnyHook Is On Full G.R.R Martin Mode On His ‘Dangote’ Cover Titled ‘Tempest’

In celebration of his 27th birthday, burgeoning rapper, BarelyAnyHook has released what he refers to as a ‘party pack’, a cover of Burna Boy‘s 2019 smash, ‘Dangote‘. This is a hookless cover where BarelyAnyHook brilliantly showcases his lyricism and an airtight delivery over the laidback instrumental of the raving hustler’s anthem.

The introspective verse, replete with Game Of Thrones references possesses a soulful realness to it. As he touches on his week-old GidiFest performance and metaphorically reflects on his artistry as well as some of the lessons learnt over the years. He also reminds us of his forthcoming “Barely.Big.Enough” project which is scheduled for release in “a month and some change“.

As he revealed on Twitter, this might just be the first instalment in a series of Game Of Thrones-themed releases scheduled for May. However, you can enjoy this freestyle alongside his other singles like ‘Line Up‘, ‘Vibrations Clearly‘ and ‘Lava Lamp‘ with Sute.

Happy belated birthday to Johnny Seabass from the PGM Club. More Life!

November Isn’t Over According To Eri Ife

Singer/Songwriter Eri Ife made a major impression earlier in the year with YLLW, his joint EP with ace producer/singer/rapper Remy Baggins. The EP was a major introduction to the Lagos scene for this artist.

The singer just released a three-track compilation to mark the beginning of November. The project features Artists Maka and BarelyAnyHook and is produced by Remy Baggins and Sir Bastien.

November is three songs to get you deep in your feelings in styles that aren’t typical of Eri Ife. The exploration is great to hear and the production is stellar.

You Can Now Sing Along To Funbi’s ‘Show Your Colour’

This writer is so happy to see artists taking lyrics more seriously because it can pain when you hear a fire track and you can’t find anything on the lyrics.

BarelyAnyHook gave a self-shot video diary type lyric video for the fan favourite Waves Freestylethe official video for Odunsi’s falling has the lyrics going along with the audio 80’s karaoke style and the artist recently released a lyric video for his song with Runtown star signs and now, we can sing along to Funbi’s Show Your Colour.

Ahead of the release of his debut EP, Funbi released a trailer for the Serenade EP (the anticipation almost killed this writer),  and shortly after, the singer released his amazing debut and continuing the trail, Funbi has released the lyric video to Show Your Colour. The 88 Factor production stars the beautiful Amiola.

Enjoy the music and learn the lyrics.

Heavy Heart – Dwin, The Stoic

Edwin Madu – Dwin, The Stoic is a poet, singer, songwriter and 1/3 of the ‘Experimental Rock’ band Ignis Brothers (along with Ruth Zakari and Lamide Aranmolate).

In July, Dwin released his debut album Heavy Heart. The project is a multi-genre LP and honestly, this is the playlist for the times you can’t get a text back. The genres go from Folk to Soft Rock and we listen to Dwin artfully use this debut to draw attention to his voice – so raw and filled with emotion. Heavy Heart was exclusively produced by 3rty and features Paybac, Gido, Vader theBarelyAnyHook, Davina Oriakhi, Jamal Swiss and Nnayimovich (The Stoic’s alter ego). The album has the rollout singles Happy Song and Are You The One? and Ignis Brothers’ debut single Braveheart. For all the fun it may bring to being in the feels of not getting a text back, Heavy Heart is introspective and makes one think, exploring concepts from spirituality to love and heartbreak. The album’s lead single Happy Song is ironically unhappy telling the story of a lover’s loss brought to life in TheGrandVezir’s stop-motion animation video.

Heavy Heart is an amazing debut and this writer is looking forward to crying more tears.

Love Like This – Trill Xoe ft. Tonero & Rilwan

We cannot overemphasize how much we enjoy finding new music; it’s probably starting to sound like a scratchy vinyl record, but here we are. Another gem has been found.

The leading single off producer Trill Xoe’s debut EP Blood, Sweat and TearsLove Like This is beautiful. The R&B joint produced by Trill Xoe features fire vocals from Tonero (especially) and Rilwan. On the hook, Tonerolays some piercing melodies and descriptive lyrics as he discovers love in the club and how much more it can become while Rilwan struggles to get a hold of his current situationships and is conflicted between affection and isolation. For such an amazing track, it’s no wonder Love Like This is such a fan favourite and the love struggle is just one of the many themes expressed on the amazing compilation of work that is Blood, Sweat and Tears which features vocal talent and flow from Nessa, PsychoYP, Barelyanyhook, Foresythe, Bryan the Mensah, Zirra, Ocho, Kizz Ernie, Oma Mahmud and of course Tonero and Rilwan.

Listen to Blood, Sweat and Tears here.
