Muyiwa Akhigbe Introduces His Afro-Futurist Sound On ‘Outta My System’ With BankyOnDBeatz

Three months after their initial team-up on their soothing love record,’Bamilo‘, Muyiwa Akhigbe and BankyOnDBeatz have joined forces on a new number titled ‘Outta My System’. Earlier this year, he also dropped a stellar joint EP with Rhye Ali titled “Conversations.”

With this new record, Muyiwa Akhigbe attempts to introduce his branded afro-futurist sound. Produced by BankOnDBeatz, ‘Outta My System‘ is reminiscent of Daft Punk’s futurist sonic aesthetic prevalent on ‘Motherboard‘.

This is a sad tale of a love turned sour. The romance has run its course and an exhausted Muyiwa is done having it. He calls it quits as all he wants now is to move and get over his jilted lover.

Listen to the record above and let us know what you think.

Bankyondbeatz Teams Up With Muyiwa Akhigbe On ‘Bamilo’

Just last week, Afro-soul sensation, Muyiwa Akhigbe shared photos of himself cooking something up in a makeshift studio with Bankyondbeatz –one of the prolific producers championing the new wave – and the result of that session is here already. Having worked with the likes of Ninola, Reminisce, BOJ and a cross-section of new-gen acts, Bankyondbeatz taps Muyiwa for his latest release titled ‘Bamilo‘, which directly translates to ‘come with me’.

On this soothing love number, a besotted Muyiwa appeals to his love interest to yield to his advances and go with him. As smooth as ever, the sweet-voiced singer details exactly how she makes him feel and admits his desperation to be with her.

As expected, Bankyondbeatz came through on the production end of the record, lacing the instrumental with strutting guitar riffs and soft but scintillating talking drum rhythms in the background.

Bankyondbeatz & Dj Yin turn up in ‘Good Loving’

We’re not ignorant of the great musical chemistry that exists between BankyOnDbeatz and DJ Yin. The duo has been giving us great music since they collaborated on the Fuego Senora EP. Exploring their impeccable working relationship in the studio, they’ve created yet another awesome tune in ‘Good Loving’.

Good Loving is a new approach to the music style being created between Banky and DJ Yin.
This song has them explore a more EDM sound fused with the Caribbean feel to it, as DJ Yin sends a message of good loving and good vibes.

At some point, we’ve all found or are yet to find that good love in our life and this song helps us move and step to that feeling. The question is, are they both in some good loving?

We at The PGM Club recommend it to all good music lovers. It’s another great sound from Bankyondbeatz and DJ Yin.

Banky, You’re Crazy for This One: A Review of Fuego Senoras

7 female musicians. 10 tracks. 1 crazy producer. When we first heard about Bankyondbeatz’s concept for Fuego Senoras, Spanish for Fire Ladies, we were intrigued by not only the gender equalizing theme but also the range and depth of talent featured on the EP.

It kicks off with “New Things” where Muna alternates between rapping and singing over a smooth and soothing piano and percussive beat. Eli’s soft and tender vocals are the perfect complement to the light instrumental on “Come Through”, a beautiful love song and one of the standout tracks off the project.

On “Fale Comigo”, Banky teams up with Lady Donli in creating a mid-tempo jazz styled groove with a light trap feel that is simply a brilliant fusion of so many different sounds.

“Hearts” Desire featuring DJ Yin is another instant favorite with its heavy pana-inspired snares and Yin’s mature and controlled vocals.

“Takeover” and ‘Ago Alago” featuring Deena O and Niniola respectively depart from the overall sound of the project up to now with Deena flowing off the Caribbean vibe on “Takeover” and Niniola telling a cautionary tale of patience on “Ago Alago”.

The penultimate track on the EP is “Pensive” featuring budding femcee A.T.  Her fast paced patois-laced rap style and Banky’s production weave seamlessly into an intricate story that, although personal to A.T, can easily be the soundtrack to the mind state of the average Nigerian lost in a hustle.

Usually with this many features and guest appearances on a project it can be very difficult for a unique identity to be formed but the variety and interesting fusion of the Bankyondbeatz’s production matched by strong guest appearances from Lady Donli, DJ Yin, Eli and A.T elevate it and give it a cohesive mix that makes the EP more than just a sum of its parts.

This project has us very excited at the pgm club.  We earnestly look forward to more music from Bankyondbeatz.

New Music: Bankyondbeatz – Fuego Senoras EP

Monsterboy’s super producer Bankyondbeatz has just dropped a new project titled “Fuego Senoras”, Spanish for Fire Ladies.

The all-female EP features Nigerian stars from all over world with guest appearances including Lady Donli, Muna, AT and Niniola amongst others.

Subtly addressing the issue of a gender bias in the Nigerian music industry, Bankyondbeatz has created a very impressive body of work with a cool cosmopolitan vibe and we at thepgmclub highly recommend that you listen.
