Sauce

Afro Hip-hop artiste Shakez comes through with this banging trap anthem titled ‘SAUCE’.

Real name Akachi Igboko, Shakez (also known as ‘Shakez Baba’) is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter and consultant from Abia State. Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Shakez started composing music in secondary school. He wrote and recorded his first song in SS3, a cover of Jay-Z’s “Run This Town” which he released on his Facebook page. The generally favorable reception prompted him to further dive into music and he started recording in his first year in the university. Over the course of his five (5) year stay in the University of Nigeria Nsukka Shakez would go on to record numerous material and perform at school events and local tours hosted by popular Nigerian brands.

He put out his debut project “CollegeBoy Fame: The Mixtape” in August 2015. The 14-track mixtape highlighted the rapper’s superior rap skills, lyrical prowess and unorthodox singing ability as he related his experiences juggling coming up as an artiste and trying to finish school. The mixtape met generally positive reviews and got over 30,000 downloads within a month of its release. Inspired by the likes of Jay-Z, Drake, Kanye West, Childish Gambino, Fela, Lagbaja, M.I Abaga, Naeto C, Aka and M.anifest to name a few, Shakez has tagged his genre Afro Hip-hop and combines new school rap with African influences and street inspired lingo. This is evident in his new single ‘Sauce’.

Produced by Seven and engineered by Spane5, ‘Sauce’ showcases Shakez in his element as the rapper combines brilliant lyricism and a catchy trap-influenced flow to deliver this highly infectious hip-hop offering. ‘Sauce’ is sure to be a fan favorite and is guaranteed to grow on you with every listen.
