One of Nigeria’s most gifted rappers on the rise, Phlow has released her new EP, “Marmalade”. This is a 6-track EP that features appearances from Alpha Ojini, PsychoYP, Blaqbonez and Tomi Owo.
“MARMALADE is a sleek body of work with an urban feel, as synthesized by Nigerian lyricist and songwriter Phlowetry a.k.a. Phlow. As an African hip-hop project, it shares little ground with its contemporaries. Each song on this 6-track EP, true to the most succinct and literal definition of the word “marmalade”, is an alternative jam; individually implanted by Phlow’s creative genius – promising to indeed germinate and sprout novelty in the African hip-hop space,” she writes on Audiomack.

Nigerian Afrohouse singer, Niniola, releases an exclusive R&B EP titled “6th Heaven“. This is a follow up to her critically acclaimed sophomore album “Colours and Sounds” released last year. There are no features in this album. The tracks on this album are; The One, 6th Heaven, Promise, Baby and Ryde. This EP was produced by TBD.
The singer reminds us that R&B was an important part of her early career before delving into Afrohouse. The EP shows Niniola flexing her vocal dexterity singing rather soothingly and then unexpectedly bellowing with power over heavy chords and Guitar strings. She has owned the Afrohouse and Afrobeat genre rather efficiently yet she effortlessly switches to R&B reminiscent of the 90s and kills it. The EP navigates the issues of love, relationships, sex, betrayal, rejection as is popular with R&B songs.

As the road to “Celia” grows shorter, Tiwa Savage is again easing up the journey for us with the release of yet another single of the soon-to-be-released album ‘Temptation’. This is the first single off the LP that contains a feature as she seeks an assist from Sam Smith, making it his second collaboration with Afrobeats acts in less than a month. But asides Sam Smith, the highly anticipated 13-track album which would be Tiwa Savage’s UMG debut would feature appearances from Naira Marley, Stefflon Don, Dice Ailes, Davido and Hamzaa.
On ‘Temptation’ Tiwa Savage is back to romance as she open acknowledges the desire that stirs up within her whenever she beholds her love interest. And like the African bad girl that she is, Tiwa is ready to give in to that fascination only if he plays his cards right. “If you do me nice, if you do me right/ Im’ma give ya everything you like” she croons. Sam Smith waltz right into the Afrobeats instrumental like its nothing, coming through with a scene-stealing feature, as he delievers his well-prunned verse spiced with his soothing vocals. For one, this single does its job and does it well. It is revamping the interest and anticipation for the project which is just a few days away.
Remember, “Celia” drops on Friday, August 28 and as you know, Tiwa doesn’t disappoint. Watch this space for any update.Post Views: 1,086
