Octavian Taps Santi Alongside Obongjayar On ‘Poison’

Popular UK rapper Octavian has fielded two Nigerian rising stars on his latest effort titled ‘Poison’. For years now, Santi has been the frontman of the culture-shifting alte movement, championing a horde of young and vibrant acts coming out of Nigeria. Obongjayar is also a UK-based Nigerian rapper whose latest EP “Which Way Is Forward?” secured an impressive 7.8 rating on Pitchfork. The revered music review platform further claims the project sonically “sits somewhere between the mystic expansionism of Kamasi Washington and the colloquial, upbeat grooves of the Dur-Dur Band.”

Produced by the Take A Daytrip duo of Mo Bamba and Panini, ‘Poison’ has an overwhelming afro-beats vibe that jumps right at you from the first few seconds. This is confirmed in a press release, revealing that the song was inspired by Octavian recent visit to Nigeria. The song itself is an open submission to love. “You’re my poison…Baby, love me till I overdose” the chorus sings.
