Teni – Little & Legendary; Talented vocalist, Teni Apata drops Little (Love I Love) and Legendary as the lead singles ahead of her double album release this weekend. Little is a love song with captivating vocals laid on Amapiano beats. Here, she is interested in getting all the cuddles, vacation and attention she can receive from her lover. She’ll make do with any of these things, no matter how little. Legendary on the other hand is a mid-tempo Afropop tune where Teni extolls all the traits that make her exceptional. Her steady grind, steady moving, she even makes reference to the legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti who many African artists have been known to draw inspiration from. Jaido P – Reason Much; From the stables of Queen and More, Cram, Tesinapot, Sexy etc. comes a bouncy new song Reason Much. Reason Much is a rap jam with compelling storytelling and delivery. Jaido P flexes his versatility and range switching easily between English and Yoruba to present a solemn single reflecting on the various issues that plague his mind. Listen to Reason Much here
Qdot – Emi lo kan; Nigerian singer and songwriter Qdot comes through with Emi lo kan, singing about several trials and failures. Just as the title Emi lo kan translates to it’s my turn, Qdot is now certain that it is his time to succeed. He beckons on the angels to bring good fortune to him. He desires to travel around the world, spend big bucks etc. It is his turn to get celebrated and smile just as he has done for others. Qdot has managed to turn a term which gained notoriety from the ongoing political saga in the country into a beseeching song in his indigenous language. Listen to Emi lo kan here
Ice Prince ft Seyi Vibez & Ceeza Milli – Hustle;
Supercool Cat Music Huncho, Ice Prince Zamani is back as he teams up with music sensations Seyi Vibez & Ceeza Milli for his latest delivery called ‘Hustle‘. Ice Prince preaches the gospel of hustle as one has to work hard to play hard. ‘Hustle no dey kill nobody o, to show love no dey hurt nobody o, enjoyment no dey kill nobody o’ they proclaim all through the song. This is Ice Prince’s first single this year preluding his yet-to-be-titled album dropping soon. Listen here
Bigfootinyourface ft Dwin, The Stoic – Daylight; Bigfootinyourface enlists Dwin, The Stoic, one-half of the alternative band Ignis Brothers, for this understated yet refreshing song. This is a follow up to his Down by The Riverside featuring The Cavemen. In Daylight, they give themselves fully to the music as they wait for the Daylight to come ‘All my friends are drunk as hell, and these are stories we will tell, when our eyes are clear again’ His new album Culture of Honour, a collaboration between him and Teeto drops on the 7th of next month. Chimzy ft. Boj – Jo Funmi; Newcomer Chimzy re-enters the music arena with Jo Funmi. This follows his Give Me Your Love ft. K Samo and Desire ft. Shizem dropped earlier this year. He features British-Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer, Boj for this new, understated banger. The two performers have wonderful chemistry and complement one another effectively. Be sure to add it to your library because it’s a smooth one for private house parties and vehicle drives. Listen here
Skales ft. Silly Walks Discotheque – Cho Cho Cho; Skales has been in the industry for a while now and is not new to delivering awesome songs. This follows his Nobody2Somebody album released in February. He links up with Silly Walks for Cho Cho Cho., he links up with Silly Walks. Established in 1991, Silly Walks is one of Europe’s foundational reggae sound systems and labels. They also collaborated with Ckay for his recent song, Maria. Listen to Cho Cho Cho here
