RUNTOWN – “THINGS I KNOW’
Nigerian artist Runtown is back to dominate the music charts after a two-year hiatus with the single “Things I Know.” The song which is the artist’s first offering for this year also serves as the first single off his upcoming album tagged “SIGNS.” On the mid-tempo song, Runtown sings about desiring peace of mind and being intimate with his lover “Steady trying, dem ah trying to kill my vibe I no get time for no fucking parasite I just want liquor and likkle bit of ice/My baby you for signal me make I know. Baby, you for ginger me make I know feel it coming closer, yeah.” Runtown reintroduces himself to his listeners, giving them the tip of the iceberg and also re-stamping his presence in the music industry.
SUTE IWAR FT WURLD – “JUDAH LION”
For his latest offering, Sute Iwar collaborates with WurlD to deliver “Judah Lion.” In this song, the artists compliment their love interests, they put their feelings on display and flow seamlessly over the Sute Iwar-produced track. They sing, “Nothing I ever seen before beautiful, wonderful lion. Nothing I ever seen before dreamer seeker you were always such a vibe,” expressing their feelings without any inhibition. “Judah Lion” which is the lead single off his upcoming project “Ultralight,” is a delightful listen.
TIWA SAVAGE FT ASAKE – “LOADED”
After releasing “Koo Koo Fun” a few months ago, Nigerian artist Tiwa Savage is back with a new Amapiano track tagged “Loaded.” In the Magicsticks-produced song, Tiwa joins forces with Asake and together they deliver an infectious bop. The Amapiano record sees Asake and Tiwa bragging about their achievements and in the record Tiwa addresses her sex tape scandal. She sings, “Sex tape, o le ba ye mi je/igbadun kekere yen/who never fuck, hands in the air,” taking inspiration from Black Sherif’s line, “Who never fuck up? Hands in the air.”
Most consenting adults have had sex at one point in their lives and Tiwa isn’t afraid to speak boldly about her sexual escapades. However, at the end of the 2:45 seconds spin, “Loaded” sounds like an Asake record and it seems like Tiwa Savage is a guest on her song. Perhaps Tiwa should have taken a greater part of the song. Regardless, “Loaded” is an enjoyable track and its official music video has racked up 2.8 million views in two days.
NISSI – “OVERTHINKING”
Nissi addresses the overthinking nature of humans in her latest song titled “Overthinking.” It is rife with Nissi’s personal experience with overthinking, falling out of love, using alcohol as a coping mechanism and taking life one step at a time. When they say Art mirrors society, Nissi deliberately sings about the subject of overthinking in her new song. Here, she becomes a beacon of hope with lyrics like, “Nothing is as it seems simple as do re mi oh yeah.” When she says, “Let the Tequila shots pour up, pour up, pour up for me. So my thoughts clear up, clear up even if it’s temporary cuz I just need healing healing healing,” she realises that alcohol doesn’t solve any problem, so she leans towards healing from her pain.
MAVIN ALL STARS – “WON DA MO”
After delivering the hit jam “Overdose,” the Mavin crew is back with another song tagged “Won Da Mo.” The new record which features Rema, Crayon, Magixx, Ayra Starr, Johnny Drille, LadiPoe, Bayanni and BoySpyce is one of the songs off their upcoming compilation album. In the upbeat record, the various artists display their skills and deliver a banger.
KOREDE BELLO – “AVAILABLE”
Korede Bello is back with another song titled “Available.” In the track, Korede Bello sings to his love interest, asking her to give him a chance. He sings, “Sho ma wa available yeah yeah,” referring to Michael Jackson‘s “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.” Listen to the song below and enjoy.
