Molly Ama Montgomery popularly known by her stage name Moliy is a singer and songwriter of Ghanian descent. Moliy spent her upbringing in Accra and Orlando, Florida, where the musical sounds of Afrobeats, Reggae, Soul, Jazz, and Hip-Hop inspired her creative interests at a young age.
Molly received prominent recognition courtesy of her feature on Amaarae’s Sad Girls Luv Money single which blew up and became one of the most popular tunes of 2021. It peaked at No. 1 on the most Shazamed songs chart and No. 80 on Billboard Hot 100.
She debuted 2022 with EP Mahogany St. which contained the tracks 9-5, Taken, and Shake It. Molly has gone on to drop the visuals to 9-5. With her seductive and airy voice, Moliy sings about keeping her faith strong while enduring a stressful 9-5 job, she maintains that a lot of work is required to see reasonable yields. It is borderline tiresome but she stresses that she’ll keep working and not lose hope;
9 to 5 don’t work for me
I gotta hustle don’t work for free
Keep the hype don’t lose the faith
Sleepless nights before you see progress
9 to 5 don’t work for me
I gotta hustle don’t work for free
Keep the hype don’t lose the faith
Sleepless nights before you see progress
This is definitely a song a lot of corporate workers can relate to. Perhaps it’s a song you can play on your morning drive to work when you’re feeling rather lethargic and would really prefer to get some more sleep. This might help you keep the faith.
