Mayorkun has had quite an impressive run in 2020. First with his stab at grime and Afro-swing ‘Geng‘ which birthed a wide range of freestyles, covers and official local and international remixes. Then he stumbled into the Southern Amapiano sound with the self crowing record ‘Of Lagos‘ whose video was made of a story-so-far montage. And now, the singer is back to afrobeats with what he calls his first official single of 2020, ‘Betty Butter‘.

This is a full in-house product as Mayorkun taps Speroach Beatz for the production and secures an assist from his label boss, Davido. ‘Betty Butter‘ is a team-up many DMW fans are so delighted to see,  as the last time we had the duo on a record was 2018 smash hit record, ‘Bobo‘ which is still a fan favourite.

On this record, however, the pair aren’t playboys flaunting wads of cash or brandishing the perks of their celebrity status. On ‘Betty Butter‘, they are pleading for love. “Which one be say you no wan come give me your heart? Baby, I’m never letting go” Mayorkun declares in the chorus.
