On August 24, 2018, M.I. dropped his 8th solo project and 4th studio album after a long wait. Talks about the release of Yxng Dxnzl first started in February 2016, being announced by the Chocolate City CEO alongside Illegal Music 3, but nothing more was said about it and well, many had almost accepted the premature death of the project until the rapper’s appearance on Pulse NG’s Loose Talk podcast, where he explained that the album was stalled due to the criticism of its earlier versions. Much to our chagrin, M’s next release was Rendezvouz leaving us disappointed once again, but on 22nd August this year, M.I announced the roll out to end the two-year wait for Yxng Dxnzl on his Instagram page and then on the 24th, A Study On Self Worth: Yxng Dxnzl debuted on digital stores.
Starring amazing production from Chopstix, Tay Iwar, TMXO and Major Bangz, Yxng Dxnzl is such a painfully honest project from the man most consider to be Nigeria’s Rap Messiah. The 10-track project is packed with features from Lady Donli, Niyola, Odunsi, Tay Iwar, Cina Soul, Lorrain Chia and Patrickxxlee.
This deeply introspective project is M.I.’s more than stellar way of letting us know that he’s still only human.
