There are only a few times we appreciate YouTube suggestions on autoplay. Today is one of those days at The PGM Club. Hardly do you find Gospel music with the right amount of fun to fit into a summer playlist, but we listened to CalledOut Music’s Love Around and well, homeboy did that.
Samuel ‘CalledOut Music’ Nwachukwu is a British-Nigerian Gospel music singer/songwriter/producer. Born in Nigeria, Sam moved to the UK with his family when he was 12. CalledOut says his interest in music started at age 7 when his father bought a piano for the church and he’s been singing and playing ever since. He released his first single Working On Me in 2016 on his 21st birthday; birthing his solo music career. CalledOut’s brand of Gospel music is not stiff or boring and that is a breath of fresh air. His vocals carry a sincerity that is not often seen in music (regardless of genre), and his songs are very reflective of his faith citing Kirk Franklin as his biggest musical influence as he says he wants people to have fun with the Good News with his music.
Love Around is his second release of 2018 (the first being I Am Free in January) and it was released in June with a video out in August. Just like the song, the video is very fun and full of color and you really can’t sit still with this. The video features dancers busting all the Gwara-Gwara moves you thought you would never see in church and we love it.
