Joeboy was one of the miracles that happened in the Nigerian music space in 2019. The singer has had such a rapid ascent in the industry morphing from near-obscurity into a cultural and commercial luminary in just a year. His thrilling ride to stardom last year was also accentuated with the release of his hit-packed debut EP “Love & Light” which housed smashes like ‘Baby’ and ‘Beginning’.
The Empawa-backed singer has now officially opened his year with a new tune titled ‘Call’, the first single off his debut album set for release later this year. This comes just a few weeks after his team up with Mr Eazi on DJ Neptune’s jam ‘Nobody’ which is fast dominating the airwaves.
Right from his breakout hit that thrust him in the public eye, ‘Baby’ Joeboy has been leading a love story almost like no other. This has also been a dominant theme in his subsequent releases although things seemed to take a sour turn on the Mayorkun-assisted ‘Don’t Call Me Back’.
On ‘Call’, Joeboy is in love once again. Over the smooth midtempo Dera production, the young singer reminds his lover how much affection he has for her. She appears to have him on a choke-hold as Joeboy is ready to do whatever for his woman. “Call on me, call on me/ know sey I go pull up for you” he sings.
