Indigenous Nigerian rapper, Chinko Ekun has joined forces with Mavin Records‘ Johnny Drille in his just-released single titled ‘Calling’. This is the rapper’s first release since the Peruzzi-assisted ‘Samena’, a follow-up to his 2018 monster hit, ‘Able God‘.
This new collaboration might come as a surprise to many as it finds Johnny Drille – a masterful folk sensation- on an Afro-pop record. Despite being a brief departure from his overtly soulful sound, Johhny Drille still comes through with a beautiful chorus and verse for the love number, a testament to his artistic depth and versatility.
On the record, Chinko Ekun delievers romantic bars as he tries to woo his love interest. He passionately describes his unrelenting efforts to get her attention, as he is ready to risk it all just to have her all to himself. Raving beatsmith, Big Dre also delivers on his end by dishing a solid production, laced with live instruments to provide a soothing ambience for a love record like this.
