Yes, the wait was long and tedious; but Burna Boy, one of the world’s leading Afrobeats frontmen, has finally released his highly anticipated album “Twice As Tall” today, August 14, 2020. This is the follow up to his 2019 Grammy-nominated album “African Giant” which featured an all-star cast of Zlatan, Jorja Smith, Jeremih, Damian Marley, Angélique Kidjo, YG, Future and more.
The album contains 15 tracks and is executive produced by Sean Combs, popularly known as Diddy. To appreciate his presence on “Twice As Tall” even better, you’d have to know that Burna brought the iconic hip-hop executive and billionaire out of retirement for this album.
Across these records in which Burna approaches as a “citizen of the world,” he brings along Sauti Sol, Naughty by Nature, Chris Martin (of Coldplay), Senegal’s icon, Youssou N’Dour and more. “Twice As Tall” also features production credits for Timbaland, Jae5, Rexxie, Telz, P2j, Anderson Paak, and longtime friend and collaborator, Leriq.
A couple of weeks ago, Burna Boy expanded his musical palette by featuring on a song with British golden boy, Sam Smith. Titled ‘My Oasis’, the mellow record only confirmed what many had known for years; that Burna’s musical range is as expansive as it can get.
By the looks of it, the imminent “Twice As Tall” album already sounds like one for the books, and the Grammy looks more sure this time. Well, we wait.
