Burna Boy Wins Best International Act At The 2019 BET Award

Nigerian afro-fusionist, Burna Boy is the latest in the series of top Nigerian acts to secure a BET nod. Earlier today at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles the self-acclaimed African giant bested AKA, Giggs, Dave and fellow countryman, Mr Eazi to win the Best International Act category at the 2019 BET Awards.

Burna Boy’s mum and manager, Bose Ogulu came on stage to pick up the award for Burna and delivered a remarkable acceptance speech in which she reminds African Americans not to forget their ancestry. “remember you were African before you became anything else” she said to a cheering audience.

Teni, however, lost the Best New International Act category to South Africa’s Sho Madjozi.

Burna Boy has, therefore, joined the ranks of Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, 2baba and D’Banj as Nigerian recipients of the coveted BET Award.

Congratulations Burna Boy!!
