Ayra Starr got presented by Mavins as a new signee with her 5-track self-titled debut EP, Jan 22 2021. While it was nice and cute for a newcomer, many still did not know what to expect from the green horn and how she would hold her own against heavy weights in the industry. 19 & Dangerous quickly followed as her debut studio album and was released August 2021. With her album, she registered her presence in the minds of her listeners as a fresh and unique voice in the Nigerian music industry. Her album was symbolically her entrance in adulthood and independence, finding her own unique sense of self and self-expression. She describes her sound as Afro-soul, a seductive voice that makes one think of a Gen-Z Queen-in-waiting.

The lyrics of the album centered on issues related to love, including unrequited love, the pain of a breakup, betrayal, and heartache, as well as more individualized themes like self-determination and self-esteem and it was generally well-received. Ayra Starr became the first female artist in the chart’s history to top the singles chart with her lead track, “Bloody Samaritan,” which peaked at number one on Nigeria’s TurnTable Top 50. The album received over 30 million streams across all platforms in the first two months of release.

Unrelenting, Ayra has dropped several videos for tracks on the album and a now a deluxe version which is  a compilation of 16 recorded tracks including new singles and features with talented music stars around the World such as Bloody Samaritan Remix with American popstar Kelly Rowland, Lonely Refix with Zinoleesky, Running ft. Lojay, Snitch with Foushee and Skinny Girl Anthem ft. Kayykilo . Ayra Starr is giving black girls a new voice discussing issues like Body Positivity, Loneliness, hurt, love and more .
