On Wednesday (June 19), popular alternative singer, Adekunle Gold premiered his new record ‘Kelegbe Megbe‘ on the PGM Radio Show and today as promised, he has officially released the single on all streaming platforms.

On the show, he revealed that this record is a single off his next project, a seven-track EP scheduled for release in July. According to the singer, the project – his third in three years – is going to see him dabble into pop-centric sounds as he seeks to leave his comfort zone and test new waters.

‘Kelegbe Megbe‘ is titled after a Yoruba phrase which directly translates to ‘Know your mate’ or ‘Know Your Level’ and its find Adekunle Gold warning detractors to remain in their lane. His confidence level is at its peak on the record, as he is ready to step into new frontiers without holding back anymore.

The record comes just a week after the release of the remix of ‘Before You Wake Up‘ featuring Tanzanian songstress, Vanessa Mdee.

This record finds Adekunle Gold out of his element as he experiments with a pop-ish sound although he still relays his messages with a mixture of Yoruba and English. He also adopts a call and response style synonymous with Fela’s Afrobeat. No doubt, this single is a testament to his ever-evolving craft and shows a depth of his artistic creativity.
