New Video

Wonder Woman – Davido

It looks like Davido is winning the fave vs. fave battle with a respect for women.

The DMW boss and Afro-Pop singer’s just-released single Wonder Woman is an appreciation anthem for the women in his life and every other strong woman fighting to get hers.

The video, directed by Twitch features the mothers of his daughters Amanda and Sophia and his girlfriend Chioma alongside Tokini Peterside, Kah-Lo, Tara Fel-Durotoye, Uche Pedro, Omwumi, Adetutu, Hauwa Ojeifo, Abisoye Ajayi-Akinfolarin, Betty Irabor, Kaffy, Nadine Ibrahim, Misi Africa, and Fisayo Longe. Women who are all power houses in their respective fields and social media has been in a tizzy since.

Watch the video and find out why.

Yo Yo – Adekunle Gold ft Flavour

Adekunle Gold and Flavour bring life to this Neo-Highlife track with a great video.

The song is the sixth track off AG’s album About 30. So far, all the videos from this project have been amazing and Yo Yo is no different.

AG and Flavour took it back to the beer parlours with colourful lights and masquerades – the traditional African club experience – to give us a feel-good video for a feel-great track.

Enjoy.

Surrender – Mr Eazi ft Simi

Mr Eazi’s 2018 has been nothing short of amazing with all those international collaborations and the release of his sophomore album Lagos to London last month along with animated visualizers for each track. Uncle London’s project has been very successful so far.

The artist teamed up with Simi on the fan fave Surrender and has just released the official video for the track. Surrender is the singer’s second video after Chicken Curry (featuring internet sensation Just Sul and Sneakbo).

The Mornix Motion Picture shows us the serenade between both artists as the song’s narrative goes about the surrender to ileke idi.

Games – Lady Donli ft Gj The Caesar

It’s been a minute since Lady Donli released Games and finally, there’s a video.

Donli has spent most of the headlining her own tours and jumping on great collaborations (most recently Lagos Gyration with Mr Eazi). This fun collabo with singer/rapper GJ the Caesar is a fan fave. After its release, Lady Donli came out with an actual game on her site for fans to enjoy.

The video is produced by Nosa Apollo and directed by Irene Ashu released via Detty TV on YouTube looks like a game with lots of cubes, animation and abstracts. The video is released under Mr Eazi’s Empawa project as Donli is the second recipient of this award.

Rapid Fire – Santi ft Shane Eagle, Amaarae

Santi’s 2018 hasn’t had just good music, the man has shown skill as a filmmaker too. He directed and produced the video for Freaky and directed the video for Odunsi’s falling.

The streak of videos continues with the release of the visual for Rapid Fire. Santi’s found-footage, 90s Nollywood horror video style continues with this montage. The tagline at the end ‘Sorry, we don’t have any candles’ makes the video even more interesting.

Mixed reactions have come for this video (as usual). While some of us think this video is dope, there are others who (interestingly) are now sure that Alte is a cult.

If you have not watched the video, you should.

On The Low – Burna Boy

Burna  Boy is bent on making sure winter doesn’t come; this man has not stopped releasing heat since he released Outside.

The artist recently released a love song called On The Low along with a video on the 16th and is still showing us why he’s one of the best Afro Pop artists out of Nigeria. The song’s catchy hook: Angeli Angelina/You dey cool my temperature is another one showing Burna’s skill at creating unforgettable music.

The camera transitions in this video are flawless, just as the sons is a major jam.

Ride Or Ride – Falana

Falana is one artist we know for her unique blend of flavor when it comes to putting out music.  Growing up in Toronto, the singer was exposed to both Afrobeats and Highlife along with International chart hits and she’s a master at bringing this diversity of influence of music to life.

Jiggy – Idris King

The French King has returned with a film for his third single Jiggy; and with a title like that, we knew the 90s Baby founder was sure to give us something entirely different.

The Bidemi Popson-directed video starts out with Idris serenading via TV screen a beautiful black woman in a red dress (also glittering gold, because black women are made of gold and honey) mused by Bariga Sugar director Ifeoma Chukwuogo, till he taps the screen and is teleported to his muse’s location to continue the good work. Then the story switches with the second verse, as Idris and his ‘gang’ chases down a ‘debtor’ to get their ‘dues’ and Idris ‘kills’ the guy with a toy gun and the video cuts to a ‘party’ with the gang ‘popping bottles’ and ‘spending cash’ – in a way that is caricature of the gang life, inspired by the movie – City of God.

The video is weird and fun and you really can’t expect anything less from Idris King.

Lovin – Simi

An anthem for the ones that are in love and want to scream it from the skies; Simi has a gift,

The singer released her latest sing Lovin yesterday and released the video today. The song is a gleeful cute expression of love for her very attractive and loyal man. The video sees a very confident Simi happily mark her territory repeatedly and enjoy undivided devotion from le boo.

Simi is set to headline her own concert on the 11th of this month at the O2 Arena in London.

Nostalgia With Phlow – Asuai Vol. 2

Hip-Hop artist Phlow released the follow up to her 2016 EP Asuai Vol. 2 on her birthday in September this year and we were blown away by the beauty that it brought with it.
